Saturday catching up thread - coffee's gone by now

I meant to post earlier but kept getting "too many requests". And I only requested once. Mucho cooler here today - temps in the 30s. I could see my breath while huffing & puffing as I mowed the back yard. The plan was to mow the front tomorrow, but it's supposed to be even cooler & maybe snow a bit. Wifey was hoping not - several of her Iris plants are ready to bloom.

My Euro pals are off the militaria expo in Ciney Belgium tomorrow. Sure wish I was going with them, but my international travel days are pretty well over. I enjoyed the food pavilion there. They had a rotisserie pork stand selling piggy sammiches I really enjoyed. Had BBQ sauce on mine, but I found it odd the most popular condiment was honey.

Several beer stands, of course. Beer & pop were the same price = expensive. I had an orange Fanta to wash down my frites and watched a little girl - couldn't have been 13 or 14 - put her Euros on the counter. Bar lady handed her down one. Girl sat not far from me enjoying it & nobody blinked an eye. The rule seemed to be if you can reach the counter to lay down your money, you'll be served.

But they've got my list of stuff I'd like to get -mostly French RR medals - maybe a tiny hunting knife. We will see. SW

Likewise with the too many user requests. Been getting quite a bit of that of late.

    Tiny *Hunting* knife???

Couldn't resist this at 5 bucks.

Likely a knock-off, and not a "real" Gerber, by the crappy crumbly junk stainless blade.
I think I have the real deal that I pulled out of Sturgeon Creek a few years ago~ with much better steel on the blade. Someone ran out of lead fishing sinkers, and used it to weigh down a pickerel rig. I should dig it out for a side by side comparison- if I can find it. It's pretty dang tiny.
Same place has a full length 1-1/4 pound axe on for 9 dollars that I'll grab, and keep under the back seat of the car. Such a thing comes in handy when stuck in mud.

Didn't quite break 35 F here today either, and there were a few scattered flakes coming down. Spring is taking it's time this year.

Okay, you got me there... tiny hunting "style" knife! I'll get a pic of what I mean later on today. I leave it on the dining room table for use as letter opener and loose string trimmer. SW
