Saturday coffee and catching up thread June 6

I felt like a dummy this morning. Thought it was our anniversary and was all happy I actually remembered it. Told wifey "Happy Anniversary!" when she got up... "It's on the 9th," she replied. Well, I should still get points for remembering the occasion, and yes, I've forgotten it a time or 6 over the years. So, on the 9th, we'll be celebrating anniversary #46. Maybe go out for dinner, and that's about it.

Warm here & still no rain. Such is life in the "great American desert". SW

Edging on +35 years for me and Mrs. S.
Coffee's actually pretty good here this a.m.
Tried the Whitemouth R. for walleye yesterday and got skunked. One small pike that I released.
Went over to Hazel creek and caught/released a decent size pike with a huge cut across the body~ there's probably a really big pike in there.
Got a new walleye rig- the 15 year old reel I was using as back-up blew it's bail a year ago.
7.0' Pflueger President fast/light rod, and a Pflueger President XT-30 reel. I have an XT-25 that is on my main walleye rig that is nearing 15 years old, and still does everything it's supposed to. Should have got another Fenwick Eagle rod, but the Pflueger was on sale at 35% off, which brought the total rig price down to just under two hundred, taxes in. It ain't a bad rod at all- just a different feel that's gonna take a bit of getting used to.

need more rain, got a bit yesterday while I was at the show

packed up and sweated a great deal since the Van said it was 102, ( likely a bit off since it was on pavement and no shade)
drove home, no issues, and saw it had rained here, temp was 83 or so, but since it had just rained, I think I could have stuck my head in a bucket of water and it would have been less humidity,

took all of 30 minutes to unload, and I was soaked,

Once upon a time when the world was young, my wife and I were strolling around the local mall. I was happy. My wife was happy. Then she said words that made my blood run cold, "I'm so glad you've got the evening off. We can celebrate our anniversary together!" Don't remember what I said in reply. Do remember that we were near Friedman's Jewelry Store. They had a very nice pearl necklace in the display. Even a brain dead nut like myself could see that she really likes that necklace. So, we stepped inside and she tried it on to see how it looked on her. Of course it looked gorgeous on her. And of course I bought it right then for her. Luckily I had enough cash in my walled as I'd been saving for a new rifle. She still has that set of pearls. She is just as pretty wearing them. Doubt I'd have hung on to a rifle as long. We were married on August 4, 1979. Within two weeks were were out in New Orleans in seminary. I'm busy saving now for our 50th anniversary which is still a few years down the road. Sincerely. bruce.

She would have had to have known that, after that comment, the two of you entered a jewelry store and she got to pick what she wanted that you had in fact forgotten the anniversary date.

At least it worked out for her and it sounds like she didn't get mad.
