Saturday AM coffee and yak a lot thread 6-13

Had a cup of whatever brand wifey likes - worked great for soaking a couple dry cookies. A little cooler here today & tomorrow - rain? I very much doubt it. Pickup still not back from the shop. I hesitated to have the work done - been driving it for a full 20 years and mucho miles, but still cheaper than buying another used one. I'm ready to get it, though. 1st project will be cleaning the garage. I try to do that every 20 years whether it needs it or not.

Then toss junk from the basement? Well, I don't want to overdo things. SW

Barometer's been spinning like a top here. Tornados touched down to the north and west of us Tuesday. Been raining quite a bit since. Local creeks and rivers are quite high.
There's gonna be a lot of grass to cut once the sun shines for a bit.

Caught my 3rd + 40" pike of the summer from Hazel creek. This one was another cannibal- a female with a 3 lb pike in the belly. The second came from Sturgeon Creek right here in town, with an empty stomach. Nice supper Sunday night~ that last pike, along with a 5 pounder is filleted and salt water marinating in the fridge as I type this.
Had a decent walleye on the line at the trans-Canada bridge over the Whitemouth river Friday. No chance of getting him out of the water though- the bite was very light, and he was just barely hooked on the barbless treble hooked willow leaf spoon. This time of year I should be still-fishing with salted shiner minnows and/or night crawlers for walleye, but the water is too high and fast for that. Lake Winnipeg Walleye is fast approaching 20 bucks a pound here. Safeway has it on for 18.97 lb. which is a sale price. I'm right to be fishing for them. The pike are still a nice tasting consolation for the lack of early season Walleye.

farmers market, then a roadside truck stand, then local bakery for breaky and a nice cuppa, then Mom;s to discuss hiring a part time day care/assistant for her, fixed her vacuum, (Stopped up) back home to drop off veggies, then local winery for a glass, look at crafts, bought some wine, took it home, then back across town for lunch, drop off a return at a clothing store, and then to another to exchange some shorts I bought that were not the correct size , then back home, ,
too stuffed from lunch to have dinner,
watched some Telly, then nap time

busy day, for sure, was more tired than a normal work day

Need to mow grass but a good bit of the yard is under water from the past continuous rainy days. Raining now even. That's why I bought a small tractor/bush hog/finishing mower years ago. By the time the yard drys the grass may be too high for the mowers. Nothing new though.

had to buy a new string trimmer/ weed eater,
my Stihl was 11 yrs old, replaced the carb a few months ago and it completely locked up last week,

so I bought a new Stihl, only went electric

coulda got a cheapo from one of the big box stores, but my Stihl was a Kombi, meaning I have a sidewalk edger and a hedge trimmer attachment as well as the string trimmer

weighs just a tad less, or feels like it does, and does a great job,

much quieter too,

Elec is the way since all the battery improvements.

I have a cheapo WM 20v trimmer along with some Stihl gas models. Those Stihl elec's are expensive, especially the batt's.

they are, and if I did not have the other accessories, I would have just moved on and got a cheaper unit, gas or electric, from a chain store,
