Saturday coffee, dry cookie and hoping for rain thread 6-20

Looks very favorable for rain today, so I jumped right and mowed the lawn. There's a car show locally - there's always one on father's day here - so after I mowed I loaded up Flop Ears & a camera to get some hot rod pics. Not to be - all the cars were staging for the big parade which seems to be a little early to dodge the rain. Saw a lot of people setting out lawn chairs to spectate... none with awnings or umbrellas.

I'll go back out this evening for pics. Sonic & DQ are always crowded with neat cars.

Finally got my truck back from the shop - took a couple weeks to find a used tranny - the 5.7 hemi takes a specific type. Flop Ears was beyond happy to be rolling again. Howled just because it felt good to hang her head out the window & let her ears flop in the breeze. SW

car show near the hotel, but I did not attend, just saw some when I went out to grab a pizza,

68 F here, after a somewhat rainy week.

Black legged deer ticks are on the war-path out where I hunt and fish. Repellent and frequent bath-showers are a requirement around here~ for Lyme disease prevention, of course.
Bath-shower you say? Those over 65 usually need no clarification here. Put your imaginations to work.
Bit of a Father's day haul for me this year. Mrs. got me a new Multi-tool that seems to be fairly decent. Not quite Leatherman, but still decent quality. More on that later.
Got a bit of a day ahead of me yet.

That was a bit of a decision, no?
This coming from a guy that had to give in over a fuel pump~ some of the GM units are on the expensive side. I couldn't see spending over 1500 on a pump for a vehicle that was only worth 3 large.
At any rate, we ended up in the little Ford Escape- which we both like. (gotta get it in for front brakes soon, before the rotors get any more chewed looking)

Truly it was. I've been driving this for a full 20 years and rolled up 240K miles. But the repair expense was still a lot less than buying another used truck with unknown history. As the saying goes in these parts, I'll probably drive it until the wheels fall off. But only around town in short hops. SW
