Saturday coffee and celebration of Freedom July 4

We did a family thing last night. Older granddaughter turned 18 yesterday - SiL is 41 today, and we had a cookout for both at the same time. Granddaughter had friends along after swimming most of the day which left them hungry. Well, we had plenty of grub on hand and took care of that just fine. So they loaded up which was the plan - enough left over to do the deal again this afternoon.

Got to thinking about when I turned 18 - it was a mixed emotions kind of event. On one hand it was good to be free and living life on my terms... well, up to a point. I'd resolved to enlist about which I was a bit apprehensive. But in the end it worked out.

God bless America and God bless American Patriots! SW

drove up to a Match this morning, was planning on calling it, then the Match Director showed up and decided he was going to direct, so I coached a newbie,

sweated body parts off and then had lunch and back to RVA, where I cooked dinner on the grill and sweated more body parts off,

It didn't seem like as many fireworks this year, but Flop Ears still needed doggy downers. Killed off a bunch of leftovers at supper, and everybody seems to be sleeping in this morning - even the dog. Neighbors on the corner usually need a couple push brooms to clean up fireworks debris, but it looks like they already did the deal. Next door has great grandkids, so they stopped around 2200.

No free fireworks around here anymore. They used to pass the hat to pay for them, but only a few people kicked in. Should have had a bake sale or something. I'll check for debris in the driveway and call it good. SW

had some close here, not sure where tho, close enough to hear, but claudy and trees prevented me seeing them, guessing the state park (2 miles away),

        all quiet today, so far

Same here---fireworks from the neighbors but less of it this year. Maybe the cost of FW has gone up like everything else?
