16 months ago my Ford F-150 Super Cab was on it's last legs, so I went looking for a replacement. I got an exceptional deal on a 2019 lease vehicle and quite pleased. However, there are a couple of things that I do not like. Whenever I get in, I have to duck my head which irks my lower back pain and the cockpit is just too darn small. My daughter loves it at almost 29 miles per gallon and all of the do-dad's that she likes.
Mom and I have decided in February or later to order a 2026 Wrangler 4 door equipped the way that we want, and our banker said the financial options should be better only time will tell.

This will be my third Wrangle purchase in 50 years. Last was a 1997 that went for almost 400,000 miles before being T-boned and insurance scrapped it.

When my sister bought her first new car it was a Volvo. She was real proud of it and took it to her local mechanic for him to drive. He told her it drove like a hospital bed.

Old boss had a Compass, and I really didn't think much of it. Interior was awful cramped. His sample spent a lot of time in the shop.
Eldest daughter had a Grand Cherokee that I drove, and didn't like. Something in the right rear wheel dragged/grinded- this on a factory new car with less than 10 K miles on the odometer.



Current ride here. We've had it about 7 weeks now. It needed a new battery right off the bat. 2015 Ford Escape SE 4-WD. 185 K miles on the clock. It threw a trouble code at me last week, and went into "limp" mode. I shut it down, and re-started it, and everything seems okay except for the constantly glowing check engine light. I'll have to take it in somewhere to have the code(s) read, and possibly re-set.

It handles a couple steps above a brick. It's sort of underpowered with the 1.6 L turbo, and yes, there is a bit of turbo lag when I try to kick it. Love the interior. I'm 6'0", and plenty of head clearance for getting in and out. I had it out on what passes for back country roads for the grouse opener, and the entirely computer controlled 4 wd system performed admirably. No real complaints on it as we got it at a price that was pretty fair. It has a set of brand new Tiger Paw tires on it in aluminum mags.

There's a couple of new to me functions that I like. The back-up camera and power tail-gate are pretty nice.
The interior is small. 4's a crowd, and 5 will require a can opener.
As a grocery getter, and grouse crawler, I can't really complain. The fuel tank on it is tiny~ a $40.00 bill will fill it from E. Full tank range according to the car's computer is 400-425 miles.

original uncut USAF version, had carb issues and I was not and am not a carb guy,, so it did not idle worth a crap, but was fun to run thru the powerlines and forest roads,
rode like a cadillac compared to my 82 toyota hilux 4x4 I had later

practically 0 issues,

my go to daily company car is a 2021 RAV4, XLE, just about ready to trip 100 thou, in miles,
bought it used, with 63K on it, and have had 0 issues, just regular maint and a fresh set of tires last month

I'm quoting in miles too, with the universal K representing thousands. We've been metric here since the mid 80's, and I still can't quite figure out distances.

They keep making cars smaller and smaller yet people and family's are not getting smaller. Why so many have to drive full size pickups and SUV's. Some of us simply like a little elbow room too. What little driving I do I do alone and could manage in one of those little wind up cars but instead drive a 4 door, 4WD F-150. My spare car is a Crown Vic, an old Silverado farm truck and a Kodiak 6500 dump truck. Wife's car is Grand Marquis Mercury. Sons truck is a Silverado that I bought for him along with a Camaro for my daughter.

No, I don't drive the dump truck but like a tractor it is there. Wife will get a new car when the old one becomes tired, causes problems, or something better is built. Hell will probably freeze over sooner.

Fire Captain friend of mine who was an expert welder bought ten 151's and demilled them by cutting in two with his torch. Paid scrap value of $50.00 for each one and then built a jig to weld them back together. My congressional critter got for me all of the Fm's and Tm's on them. Could have bought one for $750 and was until I looked underneath. These trucks had been ridden hard and put up wet with major corrosion, so I passed on the deal.
Had thought of getting a Humvee but Maintenace can be a nightmare. Including tires, I have spent about a grand doing preventive Maintenace on my Jeep. Currently running Valvoline Restore and got an increase of 4 miles per gallon of gas. Other then what I mention as cons the Compass has been a decent Jeep.
Might look into another Cherokee as well.

I would like to replace my wife's car with a Mustang GT but she doesn't want one (she had a Mustang when young). Reasons being it takes a lot of space to open the doors on a two door car in parking lots. The spaces these days are tiny for tiny cars. The main reason though is because they are so low to the ground. After owning 3 Thunderbirds (at the same time) I know all too well how hard it is to get in and out of a car that sits on the ground.

Here again, for my purposes, the bigger the better.

parking was great when I had Mini Coopers, but the RAV and the Van I have, can be tight,

backing in to a spot was always easy, until I bought a new 2023 T-250
with teh crappy little camera and mirrors, I can never back in straight, always at a slight angle,

never an issue with any other vehicle I have ever had
