    Bula's Ultra Heavy 22" barrel.

I was going to wait till a couple of other projects got finished, but curiosity got the best of me. Went down in the shop this morning and mounted the monster on one of my version #1 XM21s. Went together very nicely and I reamed the headspace to 1.633. That barrel is so pretty and " big" , I am going to leave the handguard off for now.

Ok, using bulk pack , loose M118 LR at 100 yds.
    6 sighters in 2 rnd sets marked 1 - 2 - 3 in order shot.

Next was lower right 10 rnds in 2".
Then upper left 10 rnds in 1.75.
Finally lower left 10 rnds in 1.5.

For a brand new barrel set in a USGI fiberglass standard stock, I am impressed.Total 36 rnds shot in about 15 minutes.

I've got a couple of M14 heavy weight barrels similar to yours. Mine are stamped USMC, one is parked, the other is SS. I bought them for my M25 project that I'll probably never get around to. Also bought a couple of medium weight barrels. My barrels are used, apparently came off of scrapped USMC target rifles or were re-barreled. I don't recall what the ME and TE are but they gage nearly new. I've got 3 M1A's that I've never shot. Disgusting.

        Howdy Allen,
This barrel is a whole new critter. I have used the USGI heavies, this makes them look like a pencil. USGI gas cylinders are way to small to fit over the OD of this monster.
Time for you to get out and do some shooting. You aren't going to do it any younger.

Getting there. I think a little more polishing on the sharp edge on the chamber and she will feed like whale sno?.
Hope to try some hand load tomorrow, but 1.5 ain't bad.
6 out of 10 in under an inch leaves some room for improvement.

Weighed in this morning without mag or ammo at. 13.80.That's 2.56 lbs heavier than the .450 Bushmaster in a wood stock.

Very nice. I assume the gas cylinder and op rod guide are commercial ones specially made for the barrel.

Rgr. entire rifle is built using parts and barrel made by Bula Defense System in Cleveland Ohio.
Had a buddy here this afternoon using my range. Between one of his M40s and my Ultra we ran thru a few hundred rnds of M118. The Ultra is now doing just about and inch and naturally the M40 a bit better. I think once the Ultra is set in a JAE chassis it will compete with an M40 or darn close at any rate.

Went down in the shop and dropped her into one of my JAE Gen III chassis. Not for snowflakes for sure. 18.13 empty and 19.71 with 18 rnds of M118 in a mag. I can't think of a more enjoyable way for an old fat guy to get some exercise.

Feels about as heavy as an M60 did 50 years ago so that's fitting.

Interesting. When you take pictures, don't have such a cluttered background.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Rgr. that. Hard to find a place without clutter in my shop.
I will try to do better.

get a tarp, sheet or similar and use that for a background,
                            hides the 'stuff'

btw, that table with the radios is a bit too neat,

need to spill some powder and turn over a partial hoppes bottle,,
