    1903A4

I haven't been active on the forums for some time due to a mixture of life and other issues.

I thought I'd repost some pictures of my A4 for the crowd since the ones posted previously are no longer hosted. The rifle is an Augusta rebuild that went through the CMP (maybe the 90's lottery?) and that I bought in 2007. It was sold sans optic, but I added a 330 / M8 and later upgraded to the now M73B1 shown.

The rifle probably shoots better than me! It seems to prefer the Hornady Garand load. Here's a range day from last year showing 100y prone groups (off my range bag) with the M2 ball and one with the Hornady.

          One of the M73B1 plate.

The 330 / M8 I originally had on the rifle:

Thanks! Much obliged. You have a fine rifle.

Thanks again! And Happy New Year!

            p.s.,

Is that a full pistol grip stock? Or a scant grip stock? Please advise. And thanks again!

Interesting that it is one of the 03-A4's that has been "corrected" by having the last 3 in 03-A3 marked out and a 4 added. They are seen occasionally, and since yours is an Augusta rebuild maybe that is where this was done.

Thanks for taking the time to make and post the additional photo!

Yes, Augusta Arsenal X'd out the "3" and stamped a "4" behind it. I saw several of these altered rifles at the CMP and all came from Augusta Arsenal.

That's a nice one. I have an RRA rebuild that also has a parkerized bolt.

I recently purchased 3 1903A4's from an estate, all are RIA rebuilds, each with a different level of 'rebuilding'

None had the restamped A4. I guess Rock Island did not do that.
Enfield, everything else is just a rifle. Unless it's a Garand.

Mine likes Hornady 168 grain Match HPBT's with IMR4064. It also came with no scope, eons ago. Paid $175Cdn for it in the early 80's. Put a Bushnell 2.5 to 8 Scopechief on it. Original scopes ran $200US at the time and weren't readily available. It'll shoot one hole groups off a bench at 100 if I do my part.
"...having the last 3 in 03-A3 marked out..." One of the main indicators of a 'fake' as I recall.

The 03-A4's I have seen (pictures) with the last 3 marked out and a 4 added had the correct 03-A4 offset receiver markings.

I'd have to look at mine, but there's no '4' as I recall.

One of these rifles just showed up on Gunbroker marked 03A3. Could this be a real 03A4?

I guess a better question would be are all rifles with the offset 03A3 receiver markings real 03A4’s?
