    Original Early Winchester Handguard Value

Got an original Winchester handguard attached to faked trench gun. Has patent dates. Can't seem to be allowed to post pics. What might it be worth?

Depending on condition, a patent dated Winchester handguard is worth between $500 to $1000 for someone that needs one. Good item to have.

I do not have the gun in hand yet, but it is a faked 620 trench gun with original Winchester handguard. The pics seem to indicate that it is stamped PAT.APPL.FOR, but on the wrong side of the lug???? Here are pics.

Those photos look like an aftermarket handguard to me, and someone has hand stamped the "Pat Applied For" markings into the wrong side of the bayonet lug. The screws are not right either, and are modern production. Looks like a repro handguard on a fake Trench Gun. I would say "pass" if you are getting it just for the handguard.

I was buying it for the gun. The possibility that it might have an original handguard I could flip was just a bonus. Oh well. Thanks for the input.

Being very new to this area of military firearms, I am in a steep learning curve. Some time back, I bought an old Stevens 520 that was faked out as a trench gun and it had a real-deal late WW II handguard. I paid about $250 shipped for gun, sold handguard for $500 and sold gun carcass for $175. So when I saw this

I took a gamble. As I was planning on putting together a faux 620 to go with my faux 520-30, I figured it was a good gamble. In the wash, I still come out ahead on the two faked trenchers, even though it appears this handguard is a fake. You win some, you lose some and come out the other side a bit more in the know.
