Agree. All cases I have experienced is that once a black is put into a management position they will try to weed out any whites so to be able to replace them with another black. Not meaning to slam blacks in general but they live under a different set of rules and laws than whites. My daughter has had 3 jobs so far, 2 of them involved this scenario. In her current job she had to go over her black boss supervisor's head and threaten to file a grievance (state job). I won't even go into my experiences.
Getting back to the watermelon. There might be more to this story, the white guy may have had an attitude problem and I don't know if the pink bow meant anything or not but it doesn't make any sense that a new employee would do anything deliberate to upset co-workers. Personally I see no association with blacks and the foods they eat. I guess it all came about when they worked the farms for the whites and ate what they grew but the whites ate the same so WTF? I like watermelons too. Since it is an overly sensitive issue with some though I myself would not have brought a melon to a group of blacks but in this case he could have brought in donuts and probably been ridiculed.
Again, he is better off working somewhere else. Perhaps both sides are happy now.
