Why let them go to waste. The military could hold exercises firing them along the South Texas border into the desert. It's our land and there's not supposed to be anyone there.

See? That's why I'm shooting up the ammo I have and not buying anymore. I wonder what those rds costs in 1945.
The parent company of the company I used to work for does just that; demill ammunition.

I've got plenty of 16" shells -- it's the brass that's so hard to come by.

Group buy anyone? Then we might get T/C to make up Contender barrels for us.

@ Pearl, didn't the IJN use converted projectiles by attaching fins? I would think that a B-52 could carry these with ease. Can you imagine converting these into bunker busters!

On Gunbroker there is usually an ad to sell those things complete with faux powder bags. @around $6000.

No, they put wood fins on torpedo's so they would not go so deep as to hit the bottom of the harbor (which they would have done). And regular bombs, of course.

They stole the idea from the British who added on to theirs at Taranto. To what Sam mentioned, there were some reports about recovering some suspected converted AP projectiles which had been dropped on Battleship Row.
Not much has been said about those. Too much conflicting info I reckon?

"Regular bombs" to the Jap navy were intended for ships. "Land bombs" were intended for shore targets.
