Elephants are no different from any other animal -- from mice to moose.
People who study elephants disagree. But what do they know.

Some truths are self-evident. Or do you disbelieve Thomas Jefferson?

Gotta agree with the togor on this one. This poaching $hit has to be stopped.

This idiotic ivory trade exacerbated by rich MFers who want to purchase ivory are the reason for poaching.

Horns go to rich Chinese. It ain't your daddies communism. There is a 1000 fold demand for things that they can impress their millionaire co workers with based on ancient myth. The Rhinos and elephants don't stand a chance. As for "strickly enforced". It's Africa, they don't enforce s*** unless some Europeans take an interest.

Poaching is also a problem in this country--because it's easy to get away with, and if caught, the penalty is slight. The "Chinatowns" in big cities like LA, SF, NY, are magnets for trade in illegally harvested native fish & wildlife including endangered species; if it's rare & exotic the Chinks want to eat it, and will pay top dollar for the privilege.
