Per their analysis, Alabama is the 4th most dependant state on Federal largesse, and New Jersey is 48th. That means in broad strokes that blackhawknj has a legitimate beef and Allen doesn't have much of a leg to stand on. And yes, the blue states largely subsidize the red.

I have lived in New Jersey since 1961 and I don't ever recall a New Jersey politician-especially a liberal/left one-claiming the state's financial problems were due to it being a tax exporter and subsidizing other states.
