When first lady Michelle Obama encourages them to feed their kids better, then this forum hoots and sneers at her "commie" agenda! But make those same shoppers a little poorer so they get assistance, and now your government program will FORCE THEM TO EAT THE WAY MOOCHELLE WANTS THEM TO? No one is forcing anyone to eat anything. The free food would be nutritious. Recipients are free to purchase unhealthful food if they choose to eat that.

From what I remember, school kids were free to express their opinions about Michelle's food. They cast their vote/food in the school garbage cans in record amounts and bought what they really wanted at nearby stores.

The people, now starving in Venezuela, wouldn't complain one bit about massive shipments of free, healthful foods to their country.

Thank you, maybe you are starting to understand the scamming that is going on and how people that have never had a 8:00 to 5:00 job, never hired anybody, never ran any kind of business but lives better than many honest hard working Americans. I managed a recycling business that happened to be next to a food bank. I saw healthy young people get free food there. They were driving cars that I couldn't afford, smoking cigarettes, talking on cell phones, and wearing those shoes you mentioned. There were weeks when I paid the employees but didn't have enough money to pay me...

I also saw the food bank toss perfectly good food into their dumpster in order to make room for more food in their freezers. Nobody wanted that free food because it had to be cooked. My God, starving people all over the world would figure out how to cook it. Some dry cow patty burned under a piece of scrap metal would suffice. Americans do not understand what real poverty is. 25% of the worlds population has dirt for a floor, no electricity, and drink muddy water. Yet in America, if you don't have a cell phone, the government will give you one.

I challenge anybody to document a case where somebody starved to death in the past 75 years in the USA. 10's of thousands do that every year in commie lib nations of No. Korea, Venezuela, Somalia, Cuba, Mozambique, Ethiopia, and others... But according to togor, we should be more like them.

Our starvation rate is too low. If we work on, it we can get our rate up to the standards of the National Socialist Democrat Party.

And it was introduced as broken. Even back in the 60's people were collecting WF while driving "new" Cadillac's and other expensive cars. This behavior has been mentioned numerous times in country music from the 60's and observed by all.

What IS successful about welfare though is the number of democrat voters that have grown from it. Free food, housing, education (if they want it) and healthcare. Later additions include free cellphones and free transportation to the voting precincts.

These people were and are paid to have all the kids they wanted and they grew up too on WF and kept the cycle of corruption going. This is kind of like slavery. NO they aren't having to work but they are being used.

Get rid of welfare and the jobs that no one wants will gladly be taken. No need for green cards then.

Good post Red. Every Christmas we are inundated with pleas to feed the hungry. There are examples on every channel all day long of cheerful folks handing out food and toys to "poor kids"(can't find the PC term for this,and I know it's touchy). It's ridiculous.

I agree with you to some extent, I had clients who loaded up on soda pop in 2 liters, processed food and so forth. Hard as I could try to change them they refused, when the food ran out before the end of the month they wanted to hit the food bank. Food banks got wise and restricted to every other month then. Trade food for tobacco/alcohol and then expect the food bank to feed them. Personally I would like people to pass drug checks, restrict what can be bought, work for food whenever possible. I had obese clients lug around a 2 liter of pop and drink on it all day. Should the EBT card be able to purchase soda pop, cakes/pies? Might not be a bad idea to bring back commodities in lieu of the card. Any suggestions?
