My Christmas gift to you for all year.

I like home fires and found a different way to fix them. Wash your potatoes, DO NOT PEEL. Put them into a glass bowl and place a glass plate on top of the bowl. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, stir and then another 2-3 minutes. In a large pan, preferable cast iron, pre-heat on medium high a small amount of oil. When the potatoes are done, drain off the water that has cooked off. Fry the potatoes in batches to avoid crowding the pan, when brown flip potatoes and plate up. If you do not microwave you are trying to fry and boil off water, precooking stops this. When you do the 2nd flip any water that is left will seal in and steam the inside giving a crunchy exterior and a soft inside. Best I could do for a gift.

Great idea! Very much appreciate your sharing it. I am not a cook, but my wife really knows what she'd doing when it comes to dealing with things in the kitchen. I will be telling her of your idea. Sincerely. bruce.

Sam, you fumble fingered it! I'm pretty sure you meant home FRIES. Home fires are bad, but they can be fixed by sprinklers.

That is, however, a great gift. Thanks.

I dream of a better world. One where chickens may cross the road without their motives being questioned.

Funny I didn't catch that error, having been in a gasoline fire where two men died I am very cautious of fire. I hold great stock in fire extinguishers and have several. By the way, cooking/baking is one of my joy's of life. Mom started us boys out in the kitchen at an early age with the thought that if one could cook well, one would not starve. I do the majority of the cooking in my home and my bride does not mind. Today I am going to see what I can do with left over turkey...wish me well.
