Boy Scouts Changing Name; Will Now Admit Girls

Another great American institution going down the toilet. The leadership team never even conferred with the Girl Scouts of America who are now going to sue them.

The Girl Scouts are pissed because they are nothing but a group of liberal women indoctrinating girls into a life of left wing feminism funded by cookie sales. Now girls have an alternative. Venture Scouts also allows girls as well as boys and they have a great time camping and hiking. The Girl Scouts will collapse.

This is not all that new. The Canadian Boy Scouts did that in 1998 and apparently there have been few problems except that the Girl Guides of Canada were pretty unhappy at the potential loss of some of their members. They are now called Scouts Canada

I am an Eagle Scout. This coming Friday night I will help lead our first Court of Honor for our new Scout Troop. The church I pastor sponsors Cub Scouts and this year added Boy Scouts. These are extremely good programs that I fully support. The BSA is making some changes that will allow Scouting to work with both boys and girls. This is good. There are a lot of families that have sons and daughters who will benefit from Scouting. There is no reason why this should be a problem for Girl Scouts. As far as I am concerned, I wish Girl Scouts of the USA every possible success. They have had to figure out how to organize themselves to best meet the needs of girls. The same is true of Boy Scouts. I will support Scouting BSA for the simple reason that I like what it has done for boys in my churches and I think it will produce the same positive results for boys and girls in my churches. It is understandable that some will consider this change apocalyptic. Doubtless this change will require everyone to adapt themselves. We will adapt ourselves. I would encourage anyone who has a interest in the boys and girls of their community to get involved in a local Scouting program. You will find plenty of opportunities to serve, to be used to help boys and girls grow and mature into fine young adults who will do their best to do their duty to God and their country. This is why Trail life USA is growing by leaps and bounds. My oldest was a Boy Scout a few years back, and benefitted. The boys do not really want the girls around, at least not as scouts. Youngest is 12, and the "scouts" as they are to be called is not an option, at all.

In the interest of political correctness will the name be changed to the "Coed Scouts" perhaps. Going to be interesting when the higher ups order that there be no segregation in sleeping/latrine accommodations. Remember the story of the camel's nose in the tent, same application especially if the National Socialists get back into power.

Good post Bruce. Scouting is good for a lot of kids. It was good for me. I wasn't a problem child or anything but the comradry was great. It was my introduction to semi-manhood. Outdoor life magazine and the scouts got me started on hiking, camping, fishing and just doing the right thing. Girls. That complicates things. But a little introduction to the weaker sex(just kidding) might be good for some youngsters. But it entails, having a scout handbook that covers things I can't even begin to comprehend.

Coed activities for the young can often be quite disillusioning. Thjs constant push for gender blending will probably result in a lot of people realizing there ARE differences and gender is not merely a "social construct" or a matter of "personal choice". The real harm comes from when a generation-several generations-of young males who have been raised solely by women grow up with only the foggiest idea of what manhood and masculinity are.
