I have observed a "trained" monkey, horse and dog...never a "trained" engineer. Close relative of mine is a "train" engineer for CSX. I have known people who have had education to be certified as an engineer in some application. Trigger, Roy Rogers horse, was "trained" and very well. In the "Tarzan" movies it appears that some of the monkeys were "trained" to perform. Wasn't it Rudd Weatherwax who trained dogs? As to our "trained" engineer I see that he has qualified himself in Mental Illness now. Using that often stated qualifier "nuts" that shows the high level of knowledge.

Don't forget those flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz. Now those were some "trained" monkeys.
In one of my previous jobs I was classified as an engineer but it too was like guys who drive trains that are called engineers.Attached FilesComment

Boggs, from your exchange with Sid in that thread on people's jobs. Sid writes:
Since you've decided to troll me on this, OK, let's see your game. Explain to me how my usage of the word is substantively different than Sid's. Go ahead and use big words in your explanation to show everyone how smart you are. Hopefully you'll use them correctly but if not then there's no real penalty for it except looking like a pretentious little prick, and somehow I don't see that holding you back. After getting my doctorate from Temple University I went to work for the Devereux Foundation. There I became Director Of The Psychological Clinic and ran one of the biggest programs of it's kind in the country. During this time I also trained as a psychoanalyst.Comment

Can you imagine a "trained" monkey being the "engineer" on one of those amusement park rides, working for peanuts and a scratched ear.

Togor... you are right on the mark .... Boggs will never have the intelligence to even comprehend you.... so he'll change the topic just like Dogtag doesBoggs, from your exchange with Sid in that thread on people's jobs. Sid writes:

Now that I have your attention, abbreviated short in pebbles case I will explain so that the feebleminded can understand. Since I cannot and will not speak for another all I can do is examine the word and how it would apply to a "trained" person. "Trained" is a word that was understanding, comforting, easily to deal with. Perhaps pebbles is "trained" as well...one can hope can't one. Now for "normal" people, when dealing with long term addicted population [often with a "wet" brain syndrome due to overindulgence of ethanol] small-easy vocabulary with repetition needed to be used as the attention span was of short duration. It was not unusual to have to resort to often weeks of repetition to get a positive point across.

Hey, dont insult the president and his frothy mouthed constituency in such a reckless fashion. I think aversion to syllables is a protected political class by now.Now for "normal" people, when dealing with long term addicted population [often with a "wet" brain syndrome due to overindulgence of ethanol] small-easy vocabulary with repetition needed to be used as the attention span was of short duration. If one looks closely at the record wasn't it Hillary who stated many times, "I don't recall" when questioned by an FBI agent. Some time later before a women's group she stated that a bottle of wine "helped her make it thru the night." What about her inability to maintain a vertical position or ascend a flight of steps unaided coupled with her notorious IED, Intermittent Explosive Disorder Syndrome.

To understand a concept congruent thought is applied and is in your case lacking isn't it pebbles. If one explains you lack conception vision to understand. In your language "Duh, I get the picture now where is my crayons?"Quote Originally Posted by togor View Post

Still no understanding? No need to try and explain, some people like pebbles stand on a train track trying to understand what that bright light in the dark quickly approaching is and never understanding what hit them.Still managed to avoid this from Togor ... didn't you Boggs ??
