After the Trump tax cut, the US is collecting record amounts of revenues, the economy is booming and the Democrats are spending more than ever before. The same thing happened with the Reagan tax cuts. The Dems promised to cut spending and lied as usual. This is pretty much sums it up... The Democrats cry and moan that tax cuts will cause a reduction in the amount of money the government has. Tax cuts will cause old people to eat dog food and starve babies to death. When the revenues go up they spend more money and blame the tax cuts for the deficit. Trickle down works. Tax increases hurt the economy, reduce revenues, and increase poverty, all of which work in favor of the Democrats by increasing the numbers of welfare voters.
More proof tax cuts work...

Image from your link. Article itself talks about the deficit as the gap between spending and tax revenue, doing the usual thing of putting it on the expense side. It makes no mention of Trump tax cuts which is just as well because we don't see a spike in revenue in the chart so as to justify your title "More proof tax cuts work..."

Below is a pie chart from 2016 on federal outlays. If you're going to shrink that pie, eliminate slices, then please tell us where you're going to work. Maybe on payments to seniors? Instead of just offering empty political slogans, roll up your sleeves and have at it, yeah? To balance the budget you have to resolve a roughly 15% mismatch between the spending pie and the revenue pie. Good luck!

collection and spending is on the increase regardless of the GNP..... which is by the way a lot lower then ever, considering that 90 percent of our products are imported (ask me how I know this..... I know people that work at the docks) Saying that the job market sucks here. How tax cuts work, is a bunch of BS.
However.... my wifes company is doing very well and growing leaps and bounds...Last edited by milboltnut; 05-11-2018, 11:56.For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.Comment

Why is Social Security and Medicare since [mu understanding] these are not entitlements but paid for with taxes assessed on this program. Majority paid into SS and I now pay for the medical, why include in other program as I feel t his is a separate entity.

Taking a psychological look at your statement, one asks why make your comment? Perhaps a reversed Freudian slip?

You don't have to cut or eliminate a thing... just freeze spending at it's present level. You would want to allow adjustments for unusual occurrences but that could be covered by increased revenue as the economy grows. You could even keep the 21% of Americans that get welfare checks on the dole... Right now the unemployment rate is 5% or less (Economists tell us that 95% is full employment). Anybody out there that wants a job can get one, yet 21% of people rely on the government? BTW that does not include those that get things like free food for their kids even when school is not in session.Below is a pie chart from 2016 on federal outlays. If you're going to shrink that pie, eliminate slices, then please tell us where you're going to work.Last edited by RED; 05-11-2018, 01:08.Comment

Hi Sam,
Your sentiment is understandable but in my opinion if the subject is federal spending and the deficit, one should look at the entire picture. If one treats SS, Medicare, VA, military and debt service as off limits, then there simply isn't enough left to work with on the expense side to close the gap. Options become raising more revenue or cutting in those off-limits areas. How we got here is less important than the fact that we're here. Red brings this topic up periodically but only to offer supply-side pablum.Comment

So how do you explain the fact... "fact" ... that a hold no bars building boom began here in SW Florida over three years ago ? Tax cuts didn't do that. Sorry, this "booming economy" didn't happen over the past 17 months .After the Trump tax cut, the US is collecting record amounts of revenues, the economy is booming and the Democrats are spending more than ever before. The tax cut thing is a sham. Average construction worker is looking to see a $20 - $25 a week difference in his weekly pay and he's besides himself with glee. Yet Mr T proposed a 25 cent a gallon gas tax to make up for that. Should that gas tax go through that average construction worker will immediately hand back half of his "Tax Break" just going to work.
A scenario ..... Ford Motor Credit contacts you to say that they are going to lower the payments on your F150 by 15% ... wow... they're hero's right ?
Until you notice the fine print says you'll be making payments for an extra couple of years ....... I thought the mantra was "Fiscal Responsibility"Comment

OK ... heres the Macro. The building boom came about because of the large amount of people who brought their money here to build a house , or commercial investments, from somewhere else .
I can only assume that things were doing better elsewhere if all these new people to Florida could afford to come and do this .Last edited by Sandpebble; 05-11-2018, 04:18.Comment

Re: Budget cuts. Will say, if cuts are to be made, they should be made across the board at the exact same rate. If a cut is to be made to SS, Medicare, etc., then cut everything else by the same percentage. That's about the only way people are going to accept it. Otherwise, it won't get out the starting gate. But, you can't cut your way out of a deficit. At some point, taxes will have to be increased. That will be lots of fun for which ever party gets the job. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce."
