Jim I think the right and left are both whipped up to the point of irrationality. Don't call them immigrants because that shouldn't be in the cards just because they crossed the border. How can they afford it, who brings them, how are they fed etc. We only have so many jobs for the uneducated. Also I find it interesting that Canada is sending agents into the US and telling our illegals not to come north or they will be sent back. Not much is heard about this issue.

Others mention them coming here for the "freebies" . Personal experience tells me that is far from the truth. They come to work and feed a family... plain and simple. I've had contact with multitudes of illegals while a supervisor for a large construction company. That company was given loopholes even though the government had put out its dire warnings against hiring them . { Bush Era }

How do they travel a thousand miles to the US border, how can they afford it... who brings them ? ... you ask . Well... I'll tell you.

They afford it by going with out and scraping and saving pennies.... and their families go with out to chip in the hope that some of them might have a future . And they travel far on pure desperation. Just like our own here in the United States traveled away from their homes during the depression just for the opportunty to pick fruit . { the 1930s depression }

We have long lamented illegals coming here to "steal" our jobs . That's why we hated them.

Now we are boasting 3.8 % unemployed and my small business can't hire a soul.... I've dropped clients and others can't get the services they are begging for . On my one block in suburbia is half a dozen young 20 to 26 year olds still living with Mom and dad. Not one will will accept an offer to work for me ..... less money for an easy part time gig at a Big Box or Burger flipping is better.

So... now that there is no jobs for them to steal..... our hatred stems from what? ....

I just heard one say on TV he paid smugglers $6000 to carry him across the border, though his party was later caught by BP. That's a small fortune by Mexican standards--why didn't he use it to start a small business? All smuggling is now controlled by the drug cartels, & anyone attempting to cross by themselves can be killed if the smugglers catch them first.

Bringing their women & kids with them, instead of sending money back to their home countries. Those kids have to be educated at public expense. Then of course they will have other kids born here, making them US citizens. No doubt about it... those are points well taken . But I doubt you'd do different than they if placed in the same position . Most of us here are where we are by just blind dumb luck. Its the hatred that we've been taught to feel that bothers me most . Not by our parents necessarily.... but "opinion news" hasn't done us much good.

Back in the early days of George Bush's recession I sold up and went with the company I worked for to work in North Carolina . Locals weren't happy that I'd come from Florida to steal their jobs . The fact I was a "Yankee Halfback" just made it worse . They just didn't get it..... if they were as good as I was at what I did..... they'd be doing it. But they weren't and so I guess from that, the hatred of an outsider .

You'll rarely hear me get on a religious bent but if you are Christian ....I believe we will be judged by how we judge .

That statement reminds me of a scene in the movie Charlie Wilsons War . An American women with Congessman Wilson visiting one of the refugee camps on the Afghan / Paki border in the 1980s asked a child .... " What do you want to be when you grow up ? More: So your little company can't find help. I'm guessing you need labor. So does that mean we should let 20K low education people in and hope that .002 have the skills needed by your co.? That's no way to run a railroad. I think there are systems in place to find labor. If the 20 somethings in your neighborhood can't put down their devices long enough to work for you I hope they intend to reach for high positions. I doubt it though. That's another problem.

Having been in business myself, what about your business model? Want people to work, pay them a "living wage" as the supporters say such as $15.00 an hour to start, medical benefits, profit sharing. Does your business do this, if not maybe this is your problem. My new business will be family run with machinery and more innovative ways of doing things. In the fast food business to alleviate worker shortage and the aggravation of the $15.00 an hour [unrealistic] chant kiosks and machines that now do the work of humans. Instead of needing 100 workers, now maybe only ten. Good or bad, this is the wave of the future as technology advances and low skilled people demand more for less. Perhaps your industry needs to move into more modern times to accomplish your goal and less need of humans. You are in a dilemma with your constant labor shortage, is it possible to look outside of the box? Have you thought of personally sponsoring people to hire and be responsible for them to grow your company?

What makes me puke are all the mindless open-border fanatics constantly quoting that drivel inscribed on the Statue of Liberty in 1886, which I find too sickening, & too depressing, to repeat. When it was put there, pop. of the country was fifty million, vs. three-hundred fifty today (if the millions of illegals were counted). So a SIX-FOLD increase is not supposed to matter to our immigration policy, or change the relevance of the aforesaid drivel to current conditions?
