Did you bother to read the investigative report? The Zuni rocket isn't the issue--it was what caused a bomb to drop off McCain's plane & explode. McCain claimed the rocket also hit HIS jet, causing the bomb to release, but that wasn't supported by the Navy film. "Pilot error" was the conclusion of this report. And what motive do you think the reporter had for "making up" the story of McCain in Saigon?

That is not an investigative report. It is bull sh!t from end to end. Watch the actual film, of the accident. Read the actual Accident Board findings. Your link is a total made up lie, and if you fall for it you are no better than the Stooges that fall for the total made up lies that come from the left. Do the research... the reports and information I have are indisputable... your information is based on a single source which is a total lie.

No bomb dropped off a A-4 and exploded. They were cooked off by the fire caused by the Zuni rocket igniting thousands of pounds of jet fuel. Bomb fuses were activated by a small propeller. The propeller could not spin until a wire several feet long and attached to the AC released the propeller and then it had to spin a number of times before it was armed. You could drop a thousand MK80 series gravity bombs off an airplane and onto the deck or runway and they would not be armed and would never explode, not one not ever.

It is all BS.

From what I saw of the report, part of the problem was old ordnance that should have been scrapped. Navy ordnance was running out of bombs, so old war reserve was used. I read that some of the ordnance had rust on parts of the casing. Some time ago a British show was done on the incident using the official report as the basis. McCain had no part of the incident and was lucky to get out. He was not so lucky 90 days later and paid for any errors that he made. I believe Red, who has experience, should be listened to.
