Will Burt Reynolds get the accolades McCain got ? ...

No, of course he won't. And he won't get to lie in State either,
although as far I'm concerned he may have deserved it more.
He entertained with his movies. He made people laugh and
from the reports I've read, he was fun to be around and was
adored by those who knew him.
As for McCain, only Arizonians know if he was a good Senator
or not, but we all know he was a lousy pilot and a vindictive
    Trump hating turncoat.
    I'll miss Reynolds. I won't miss McCain.

Burt Reynolds was an actor. An actor is a person who makes a living pretending to be somebody he's not doing things he's generally never done. The only time I know of that Burt Reynolds ever performed a role that reflected his real life experience was "The Longest Yard." He actually was a football player at Florida State.

McCain was an acting Republican to a point then he didn't care if everyone knew he was opposition/democrat.

That's what Politicians do for the most part - Pretend.
They pretend their doing things for their constituents
when in fact what they're really doing is either for
        themselves, family or friends.

One thing I meant to get in and didn't before my 'puter decided it didn't want to behave. What is the basis for saying McCain was a "lousy pilot." I assume anyone who can land a high performance aircraft on a moving ship has a high degree of competence.

Reynolds only made one serious movie, Deliverance, and he was really excellent in this.

No one doubts it takes a lot of skill to fly and land on a carrier but these aren't our words. McCain could crash anywhere.

"McCain began as a sub-par flier[20] who was at times careless and reckless;[21] during the early to mid-1960s, two of his flight missions crashed and a third mission collided with power lines, but he received no major injuries.[21] His aviation skills improved over time"

"His skills improved over time" ? Right, Just before the Navy ran out of planes.

McCain's citation for the Distinguished Flying Cross reads as follows.

The President of The United States takes pleasure in presenting the DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS to

                      Commander John McCain III
                      United States Navy

For service as set forth in the following

                      CITATION

For heroism while participating in aerial flight 26 October 1967 in North Vietnam. While attacking the thermal power plant in Hanoi, Commander (then Lieutenant Commander) McCain, despite extremely heavy and accurate anti-aircraft fire and more than fifteen surface to air missiles in the air, pursued the attack until his aircraft was severely damaged, he continued his bomb delivery pass and released his bombs on the target. When his aircraft would not recover from the dive Commander McCain was forced to eject over the target. By his exceptional courage, superb airmanship and devotion to duty, Commander McCain reflected great credit on himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

                      J. William Middendorf III
                      Secretary of the Navy

In addition McCain received two purple hearts, three Bronze Stars two Legions of Merit, and a Silver Star. Even allowing for some enhancement that's quite a record.

I've got no problem with McCain the military man, I did have issues with McCain the politician. McCain could be petty and vindictive (he largely blamed Sara Palin for his loss to Obama and held a grudge against her tell he died,) and I guarantee that after Trump questioned his guts the Prez. guaranteed that McCain would screw him if it took the rest of his life. Not an attractive characteristic. Pres. Trump said every bit as nasty stuff about Ted Cruz, the difference being that Cruz has his eye on the bigger picture and so is willing to forgo retribution. A fact that's hurting him a bit in his Senate race because a decent number of Repubs. don't see how you could let accusations that your father was involved in the plot to kill Kennedy and you have an ugly wife go.
