67 Million Do Not Speak English At Home

I was taught English in grade school, we speak American hillbilly @ home. The point is???

My comments have nothing to do with knowing a 2nd language or eating out but since it was brought up no one goes to a Pizza Hut expecting everyone to be speaking Italian. It does have something to do with a more accurate number of illegals living here. Our public school system is wasting millions of dollars teaching Spanish to students who can not and will not learn OUR language. In smaller communities this sometimes relates to a one on one ratio of teachers to students. Legal immigrants? Nah, I don't think so. I've known and worked with many legal's who have become recent Americans. They don't speak their native language any longer. Their kids were born here so they have no need to speak a foreign language at home. That 67 million is just a guess. The actual number may be double or so. Even the liberals acknowledge 20-30 million so you know the problem is much more widespread. If you go back far enough in time we are all immigrants from some foreign land. Do we speak our ancestors language? Back when I was in high school there was a LOT of pressure to learn Spanish as it is now too. I asked the student councilor "why?" Her only reply was "so you can communicate better with them". My reply was "if I go to their country I will either learn their language or have a guide/translator otherwise it is THEIR responsibility to communicate with us if they are on U.S soil". The more they don't adapt = the more we give in to them. Over time it has been questioned quite a bit about making Spanish the language of choice in the U.S. rather than stand up for our own independence. At Lowes all the exit doors are in Spanish as well as English, ask yourself why?
