Yes, church people are so judgy, while agnostics, atheists, skeptics, Liberals and Leftists are the paragons of open mindedness, tolerance, acceptance, etc.
"Poor" ? Welfare benefits run $40-60,000 a year, watch that video "Swipe Yo' EBT!" to learn how to qualify for them. Hungry children ? One of our Canadian members noted how in the Dominion the "distressed " families always have money for beer and weed and the kids have to be enrolled in school nutrition programs. On another board a member said a local store had a "no questions asked" return policy for toys, they found parents returning toys for cigarettes and booze money.

I recently came across a philosophical comment on giving that struck me as sadly true:
"Givers have to set limits because takers never do"

        Unfortunate but true.

Think of all the trouble of giving and taking saved, if people just avoided filling up their Sunday mornings.

Poverty is messy at times. Engage with the poor how you will, but I personally never understood the point of condemning them. Sorry, I just the way I grew up.

Judgy churchgoers are the worst. If I was poor I'd sooner starve than accept help from the holier-than-thous.
YOU are the biggest "holier-than-thou," that exists. You claim to have more knowledge than Christ, Buddha, Mohammed, and Einstein combined. You know every thought that has passed through everybody's mind. There isn't a damn thing in this world that you don't know. You are a Medical Doctor, a climatologist, a Law Professor, a mind reader, a macro and micro economist, astronomer, a expert on baseball, and can speak 37 different languages... according to you.

In reality you are just an ignorant blowhard, full of anti-American hatred. I believe you are the track to become one of the next mass murderers in the U.S. You are so eaten up by blind hatred of America, and American values, you have no clue what is right and what is wrong, and YES, I do believe you are quite capable of becoming the next McVeigh or Paddock. I sincerely hope a Mack truck driven by an illegal "immigrant," runs over and squashes you like a road killed skunk. JMHO

That's out of the mouth of the same racist guy that denigrated poor people as not being able to make "proper decisions." What a despicable jackass...

Maybe you should take another break from online discussions. You seem to be having too many emotional outbursts around the holidays. Or maybe that's just it...

I like to quote the retired New Jersey judge who told a welfare queen who appeared before him-as a plaintiff-that she was using her children as "meal tickets".

The people that come to our mission house for food, clothing, blankets, etc. are one thing. Those that come to the church and want only cash for gasoline, motel rooms, food, etc. are scrutinized a whole lot more closely. Some of those items are provided but only by chit - not cash. It’s surprising how many refuse to take anything but cash money.

he also make a lot of assumptions,

thinking the sundowners has kicked in, or the meds for the month have worn off

It sounds like your mission house is well run sir.
