Hollywood - totally devoid of new ideas ...

and totally out of acting talent to boot.
Where are the Tracys and Hepburns ? Where are
the Casablancas, the Born Yesterdays ?
Ir they're not producing Comic hero garbage then
it's back to making piss poor copies of old classics.
Thank God they haven't attempted Casablanca (yet)
The numbers of remakes they've churned out is legion,
and every one of them has sent the audience fleeing.
Doesn't anybody there have an original idea for a
story - I mean from a novel that has a good plot, as
I wouldn't expect them to have an idea of their own.
Nah, I bet they don't even read - except comics.

Thank Heaven I have my own classic movie collection

The only good remake I've seen is Monte Walsh.

      lots of good talent,

Sam Rockwell (watch Moon, and he has been in about a billion movies)
Martin Freeman (Sherlock, Hitchhikers Guide amongst others)
Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Star Trek, Tinker Tailor, and a few others)
Idris Elba, (Luther, the Losers, Prometheus, and others)
Tom Hardy, (Peaky Blinders, Layer Cake, Batman, Dunkirk, others)

Christian Bale does good in just about everything he does,

      to name a few,

      all good actors,

We generally only watch movies on TCM channel. The old black and white movies from the 30s thru 40s. Grandson calls them "grey movies". We definitely do not go to the theater to watch an over rated, poorly acted movie.

Watched one a couple nights ago that portrayed a Armageddon type shoot out. The leading actor lost his weapon and made a run for it. He picked up a weapon ( Winchester "97 Pump) and held off the remaining bad guys. He only fired 17 times ( no loading) to end the altercation. I backed it up and counted if you question how I know this. I all so like it when the good guys stand around waiting to go in for the kill and the leader of the group gives the command to "charge" and each on of them rack a round into their shotgun and the guys with Thompson's pull the bolt back ready for the charge. I wonder why they wait . Well I do know. Its Hollywood and it gives impact to the viewer. It's still pretty good entertainment. Especially if it's Bogart or Cagney.........

          Merry Christmas to All.

They are now doing a remake of Home Alone using McCaully Culkin who is no longer a child, but an adult drug addict. They have made endless remakes of Robin Hood but none of them can come close to the original with Errol Flynn. There are 2 versions where they have Blacks as part of Robin's band of Merry Englishmen.

Last night I watched an old movie with Humphrey Bogart and Ida Lupino. Nobody can play a gangster like Humphrey Bogart.

Hollywood is a boneyard when it comes to new ideas.

Here is a clip from the new Robin Hood movie with Jamie Fox as Little John. Errol Flynn would turn over in his grave if he could see this.

Reminds me of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie 'Commando'. He unloaded a pump shotgun after about 20 rounds and threw it down empty, in the middle of a plaza while dodging a hail of bullets from all sides. Picked up a convenient rifle and fired that one dry several times without a reload. Had to run back through the plaza and picked up the empty shotgun. Apparently the bad guys stuffed it full of shells and tossed it back out there. Boom boom boom....

Personally I don't like remakes and most of the newer stars are liberals that I won't support on the big screen and watching them on TV makes my skin crawl. I like gangster shows, documentaries and no nonsense shows like Game of Thrones. Westerns pretty much don't exist any longer and when something is made Hollywood always uses the opportunity to re-write history. Most TV sitcoms come and go (canceled) w/o me ever knowing about them. Late night talk show host do nothing but play politics with their heads so far up obama and hillarys butt you can't see them.

As far as young new entertainers I just as well watch episodes of Kattie Morgan (look her up) but she only appears on HBO and I cancelled that due to their liberal ways.

I watched one of Steven Seagal's hokey movies where he held up 2 MP-5's while walking down a dark hallway. Using the never ending firepower of the guns he lit up the walkway so he could see.

A few days ago I got dragged by my wife and some friends to see the movie "Green Book" about a black musician's tour of the South in 1962. To my surprise it was as good as the reviews say it is and I suspect that it will end up being nominated for an Oscar. It's based on real events but the details and anecdotes have almost certainly been fictionalized somewhat. I don't think that anybody can criticize the acting talent; it was excellent.

Yeah, she did stand up comedy skits. She's a looker and always had an interesting wardrobe.

From what I saw in the trailer I thought it might be good. Thanks for the "review".
