This one is really wild. Among other things it allows abortion up until the time of birth, allows non-physicians to perform abortions, if the new-born survives the abortion it will be left to die, etc.

Decades ago when I was about 13 I remember reading an article on abortion while waiting in the dentists office. The subject of the article was the problem of unqualified people performing abortions. The "coat hanger" days. If we think this won't become a problem again we are being naive. Many women suffered permanent injury or death. There are a couple of real solutions to this issue. Education and access to birth control for one, and real help for the single mother. Hypocritical Christian churches will squawk about abortion but offer no real help to the mother on her own with no family support system. Other countries are more effective, Iceland comes to mind. I think they have the highest rate of childbirth by single mothers.

They want taxpayer funding of abortions AND generous welfare benefits and taxpayer paid neo-natal care ( a fetus is not a person, why should we pay for medical for non-persons?). Geraldine Ferraro said it's important for poor women to have healthy babies, yet their reason for having babies is solely for welfare eligibility-"meal tickets" to quote a retired New Jersey judge . They expect the 75% of non-parents who fund public schools to dig deeper in their pockets to pay for schools that fail so miserably because so many women use them as daycare centers. And when was you heard any one in the pro-abortion camp talk about the MAN'S right to choose ?

Religions are free to sunder any members who participate in abortions against the teachings of that religion. Jiminvirginia is 100% right, that some access to abortion is in the best interest in society as opposed to going back to the bad old days. Women of child-bearing age are not the property of old men.

You never ever speak to the rights of the born women. To you there is only one side to this issue. I at least can see both sides of the matter and make a tough call. That's what reasonable people do.
