A fight can be worth fighting independent of how it ends.

It was self-defense for the invaded countries, US allies, to resist the red aggression. Isn't that the theory used by FDR to come to the aid of England, before Hitler had struck any blow against THIS country?

And per the German archives, FDR had the right idea. USA was on the list, after GB and the USSR were subdued. Those unreliable Asians were supposed to attack Vladivostok, not Pearl Harbor! (the German view). Japan, having already tangled with the Soviets, wanted no part of that plan.

As much as Roosevelt opposed the Nazis, he was a long way from pre-empting them.

FDR was a sick man who was not up to dealing with Stalin, same with LBJ against Uncle Ho. Stalin was a shrewd man who usually got his way with whoever he dealt with. I believe that after 1940 FDR should have stepped down to let another person led America. Right now in America we have two opposing factions, the National Socialists [evil] and the Conservatives [good]. The Nazi party and their minions will continue to try and push America to third world status to maintain party power. One thing about "our" Nazi's on this board is "their" ability to defend themselves in a vile manner. How one person can maintain three personas is truly amazing to say the least. Togor must be commended for keeping the returning arguments separate from each personage "he" has created.

Korea and Vietnam did fall under the now defunct Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO)... an Asian version of NATO. At its core, invade our friends, and we will help defend them. Now, with that said there is no editorializing about corrupt regimes.
