You have to admit, it would be awfully hard to throw someone like this in a jail cell.

I wouldn't have a problem throwing her in jail at all. God making her pretty doesn't mean she isn't a nit wit, and a criminal nit wit at that. Well maybe not a nit wit since she's only in trouble because the D.O.J. decided to make an example of these people.

The only good and fair thing about this is that it shines a light on the almost unbelievable corruption in college admissions. If "pretty girl" had bribed U.S.C. directly with a contribution to build a wing on a library for the same amount that she spent on dummy-ing up her kid's paper work all would have been well. Equally unethical but...hey man...no problem.

Money talks, B.S. walks. So it is, so it will always be.

There will be some consequences though. These rich peoples legal fees will easily equal the money they spent jobbing the system even if they win and their kids will be, temporarily "persona non grata" at the schools they applied to. The guy who ran the ring facilitating this stuff and his minions may well go to jail and some University employees will lose their jobs and have some legal exposure as well.

Just look at the discrimination against Asians for being too smart at elite universities or in favor of the George Bush or Al Gore types (both academic mediocrities) because of their parent's wealth and influence in elite universities. It makes me need a drink.

It appears that the sharks smell money and now the lawsuits have started. The "stars" will have the most trouble due to their being in the limelight so things could go bad for them, as it appears it already is financially. The lesser ones, if smart, will try and cop a plea deal early to get it over with. The lawyer will be the exception as he could be made an example of. This "awesome" scandal will last as long as there is money or publicity to be had, after that it will go to the back page under help wanted. This will change nothing as those who have will get more then those who don't as this is human nature.

The real scandal is the assumption that the education at these elite colleges/universities is somehow superior. I have three degrees plus an online MBA from so called second tier universities. I didn't feel hamstrung in competing with the elites. Then again, I think that the best education id offered by large state universities, whick are all essentially equal in quality.

Don't think so with all the $$ the feds have out there. Remember the feds want notches on their handle for future political aspirations.
