They figured out pretty quickly that it was blood borne, and not easy to transmit. Dicks and needles were the best at it. So I guess they were supposed to what? March all of the dick wielders into concentration camps? Demonize them? Yeah, that makes it easier to do public health. Good one.

the phrase 'almost nothing' puts a kink in your theory,Liberals didn't create the virus, but they MOST CERTAINLY promulgated the blatant LIE that homos (i.e., filthy queers) weren't chiefly responsible for spreading it to the general population. To conceal the TRUE source of the epidemic, Liberals & the media (not that there's a difference) promulgated the hysteria that it was a disease "anyone" could get, whereas "anyone" who kept strange cocks out of their mouths & a-holes had almost nothing to worry about.
I do think the MSM and social elites did (still do?) a disservice to the entire issue,
seems to me they portray those that have HIV as Victims, and glorify it,
much different than the stigma given to someone that get the clapComment

I don't think so, because we must acknowledge that contributing to the spread of the disease were such factors as homos selling their blood for transfusions before tests for AIDS were developed, or bi-sexual homos transmitting it to unwitting women. Nevertheless, the main form of transmission was & remains the abomination of SODOMY.
You unfairly single out MSM; the Big Three networks, because their audience is vastly larger than that of MSM, were far more responsible for spreading the "everyone is equally susceptible" myth, along with the media's constant glorification of faggotry.Comment

their blood for transfusions before tests for AIDS
Mid-80s was working out of SF, drank in a pub near the Marine's Memorial. Barmaid used to put on a gay talk show every afternoon; frequent topic was donate blood to spread it around.Comment

Nothing like a good gay thread to get CH aroused? Women got HIV too, and not just from needles, and not from other chicks. In any case they have the drug cocktail now which is brilliant. It stresses the virus 3 ways at once, such that no single mutation allows it wriggle out of the trap. At some point a similar virus will come along that hits the "virtuous and non-virtuous alike", and we'll be glad for this expertise.Comment

AIDS is an STD and a disease of lifestyle but there was a massive propaganda effort to convince people it was an equal opportunity affliction.Comment

There was also the politically-motivated propaganda about "safe sex." When you corner them, they'll say, "Well, we really meant SAFER sex."
I was talking to a UN worker in Botswana, and she said, "Well, they get drunk and don't USE the condoms." Wow! Imagine people mixing alcohol and sex! Whoda thunk it?Comment

That's not how I remember it. I remember there being messages about how in fact it isn't easy to get on account of people being anxious towards those afflicted. Ryan White of Kokomo, Indiana comes to mind.
Someone who did die of AIDS contracted from anal sex and who was considered one of the meanest SOBs around was Roy Cohn. He was also the mentor to a certain New York businessman who later branched from commercial real estate into politics. His playbook lives on today. Fight everyone and everything in court, and never admit wrongdoing, ever.Last edited by togor; 06-03-2019, 04:20.Comment

Cohn was denounced-after his death-for his supposed "hypocrisy", though the homosexual journalist Randy Shilts denounced those who practiced "outing"-and was in turn condemned for doing so. And if Cohn had espoused liberal causes he probably would have a better reputation.
A friend who was a night owl told me how one year he was listening to the BBC World Service, in the build up to World AIDS Day, 75% of each hour was devoted to AIDS. The Big Day came, the first listener's message they read said one would never know listening to their programs that AIDS was an STD and they acknowledged that most messages said the same thing. He said next year their coverage was much more subdued and low key.Last edited by blackhawknj; 06-03-2019, 06:19.Comment

Because, as you've admitted several times, you don't watch popular, mainstream, TV (admirable in itself, but NOT if you're so presumptuous as to be commenting on popular culture!), & you haven't a clue as to the unremitting liberal propaganda force-fed the public by the media. You reveal yourself as an ignorant fool is you dispute the homo-loving media's calculated efforts to divorce the homo lifestyle from the spread of this disease.
And trying to drag Cohn into this subject is a contemptible red herring--as you well know!Comment

Seriously? I don't suck up cable TV by the hour and this makes me an ignorant fool? More like it doesn't make me a pre-programmed tool of the media overlords. You do know that there is a science to how they produce that stuff, to get people hooked on a particular brand of outrage. Next thing you'll tell me you can stop anytime you want, right?Because, as you've admitted several times, you don't watch popular, mainstream, TV (admirable in itself, but NOT if you're so presumptuous as to be commenting on popular culture!), & you haven't a clue as to the unremitting liberal propaganda force-fed the public by the media. I explained how remembered the HIV thing, and you ignore that explanation and pretend that I didn't have a clue. I stand by my recollection--the message was that HIV transmission happens and doesn't happen in certain ways, and that blind freakouts weren't necessary or productive. You apparently are mad because they didn't demonize HIV people enough. So I give you one to demonize--Roy Cohn--one of the meanest sodomites around in his day, and you take a pass on it!
Nice try but no cigar for you today, CH.Last edited by togor; 06-04-2019, 05:18.Comment

you can tell some folks age and background by the comments,
I find that interesting,,
meanwhile,
when I graduated high school (1981) STD's were not that common (also known as the drips or the clap)
then Herpes got a lot of attention, and everyone knew someone who had it (Wife's Cousin, given to her by her now ex husband) and everyone was freaking out when someone got a cold sore (which is a form of herpes, but not the same supposedly)
then AIDS got the attention, first from homosexual acts, then other cases came about, for different reasons,
[tinfoil hat] some say it was from sex with monkeys, others say the CIA spread it around[/tinfoil hat]
meanwhile, the promiscuity level of those that are gay stayed the same, they just did not seem to want to stop it,
live it up now and forget about the consequences maybe??
btw, gays have been around since people have been around,
just a bit more mainstream now,Comment
