Seems like we could implant plenty of "ally" rag heads to mingle, work beside them and report back to us (long def for spy's) for target locations and uses. As far as being well dug in, if there is a ventilation shaft it becomes history with a pressure bomb. It may take a lot of bombs but they will become less effective with every strike. Kicking the can down the road is why things are as bad as they are now.

Relying on air power alone is simply another way to kick the can. Believing in the "Get in, kick ass and get out" school of strategy. Our most successful war in the 20th Century was WWWII -- and we're still in Europe. Getting boots on the ground and keeping them there works -- trying to fight a war on the cheap never works.

That's right. They work for the Israelis.

Makes no sense to plant a limpet mine above the water line.

Wouldn't a "water line" be dependent on how much a ship is carrying?

Geeze Allen wants a war to watch on cable TV but bad. Surely there's a "WW2 week" coming up on one of the movie channels. Strange as it may seem coming from me, a known Trump skeptic, but I'm hoping he's just letting his recycled neocons make some noise as a negotiating tactic. But keep in mind there is this nothing this admin can ask that will get the Persians to a "yes". They have to expect that any deal with the Trump administration will be quickly broken. So WTF is even the point of the escalation from the US side? Trump's Iran policy is schizophrenic in my opinion.

Yep. Of course the level of all sea levels should be about 50' higher than they are too. Al Gore said they would be by now.

Allen-y! Where a boat sits on the water is not a function of tide or other unless the vessel is resting on the bottom.

Perhaps a good first move w/o declaring war.

The Trump administration should consider taking serious actions if Iran further disrupts shipping activity or enriches uranium toward weapons-grade, according to Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.

I don't think it was their intention to sink any of the ships. Just damage them to send a message.

They're sending the message "please bomb us" by shooting down one of our drones in international air space.

No way for the public to know where the drone was when it got hit. But the fact that it was unmanned makes it expendable, and more likely to be in Iranian airspace.

We are all arm chair quarterbacks and generals. Even if the drone was in international airspace who cares if they shot it down, no one has been hurt in any of these attacks yet. I like the fact we are sitting back and doing nothing that we can see. Its got to be puzzling the Mullahs that we haven't hit back which is what I believe they want us to do.

Radar of the area will show the area of shootdown so location is a mute point. There are many options on the table from doing nothing to turning the sand into glass. This is not the first gauntlet the Iranians have thrown down I feel it is the last as the U.S. will pick it up. A measured response is necessary or the situation will escalate until someone gets hurt. A standoff attack on all missile sights is a possibility, a warning that all Iranian ports are blockaded with force if necessary. The U.S. has many options to use, the Iranians have to ponder which one...tick, tick, tick!
