Take Trump and Cummings. Cummings grills a member of the border police pretty hard over child separation and crappy conditions. He's doing his job. What happens next is a familiar pattern to minorities. Trump tweets to the effect that Cummings has no business calling out the border people like that, then goes to town on Baltimore. The subtext is this: Cummings has no place to criticize because his is a poor black district. Anyone think people both white and black don't know the score on that one? If someone from WV or AR criticized Trump, do you think he'd tell them to go get some dentists or something? Not in a million years.

Lyman, as a guy who votes for the party that says the government can't create wealth, you're asking me if Cummings made his district wealthier? I have no idea if he did or not but be careful with the question. There are a lot of Congressional reps in the SE that you would disqualify on the basis of having some pretty poor folks in their district.

For purposes of the hearing, Cummings asked a good question. If the Trump administration didn't like it, too bad. You certainly felt that way about Benghazi or Fast and Furious questions. And if it's a good question, who cares who asks it. In this case, attacking the questioner this way speaks volumes. Everyone knows the score, so why bring it up?

In a joystick/mouse/keyboard military, women are on equal footing in many areas. In the infantry? No. But most of the military is not infantry anymore. My wife ran with a EMS-B crew for a number of years. Big guys and some women. No doubt the big guys were essential for humping that gurney up or down stairs. But, when the unit was rolling, those big guys were more than happy to ride in the cab while the women took care of business in the back. How about a shout-out for a diversity of skill sets on the roster? And didn't those female squad members come in handy in the Sandbox when talking to a bunch of Muslim women?
