All this incompetence crap will get straightened out as soon as we can get Joe Biden in office. The man is remarkable. The only thing he asks for is a little short fat girl to fondle occasionally.
Dorian is all the proof you need...

We'll get him an Inflate-a-Date. At his level of consciousness, he can't tell the difference.Comment

Sure, whadabout Biden? I wonder that too on some stuff. And yet I don't see him stepping in something like this. Trump had good intentions, and in spite of them, or possibly because of them, the White House FUBAR'd their Dorian messaging to the point where it became necessary to throw the Birmingham office under the bus for just doing their jobs right when it mattered. All of us have lived long enough to recognize a certain type of incompetence that is practically a skill unto itself. To my eyes we're seeing that here.Last edited by togor; 09-07-2019, 09:28.Comment

I never got the "black guy in White House" heebie jeebies but 8 years was enough. Some stuff he did was okay (saving GM, Chrysler, unwinding the CDO mess that almost killed the banking system, getting bin Laden), some stuff was not (letting Russia f*ck with us, allowing ISIS to get rolling). McConnell was determined to not work with him, and that was a problem but blame for that can be spread evenly. People will disagree but I believe history will judge Obama to have shown a more restrained view of executive power than the current Emperor-in-Chief. If anyone wants to debate that point I'm up for it.Last edited by togor; 09-08-2019, 05:44.Comment

so far history has him pegged as the worst president ever, knocking Jimmeh Carter off that throne,I never got the "black guy in White House" heebie jeebies but 8 years was enough. I think he was 3rd,,
don't recall where I read that a year or so ago,
re the 'black guy in the white house',
my biggest worry was some goober would take a shot at him,
A> leaving Biden in charge,,,
B> legislation would likely get thru that would make the GCA of 1968 look like peanuts
scary stuffComment

I think if that would have happened, all we would have remembered was the "but", as in:
It's wrong to attack our elected officials like that, BUT if someone feels that their entire way of life is threatened, then it's understandable that they might feel compelled to act.
I doubt any of the House Wingnut Caucus would say that (wingnuts notwithstanding they're elected officials too), but a Hannity or Carlson is easily imagined saying something like that.Last edited by togor; 09-08-2019, 11:42.Comment

I don't know. When the Congressional baseball practice got shot up, I didn't see a lot of people cheering. It is fair to say that the anti-gunners want to use every shooting as an argument to get rid of guns, but that argument is itself intrinsically anti-shooting. And the whole idea of a do-or-die culture war runs much deeper on the right, where there is a much greater feeling that a cherished way of life, centered more or less on a celebration of firearms, marriage for straights only, evangelical Christianity, and now anti-immigration, is under siege from a secularized anti-gun, pro-gay and weak borders majority and their media allies. You've seen plenty of rhetoric here at the forum that captures this view, and it is from this view that one can easily imagine an apologia for the shooter. It happened before, with the NZ massacre. If someone took a potshot at Obama, it is easily imagined that a someone on the right would reject the act while nonetheless excusing the feelings that led to it.Last edited by togor; 09-08-2019, 01:01.Comment
