I shop at a local Walmart Grocery Store. At this time they have not posted the Texas required signage to inform people that open carry that they can't.

Bull crap Vern. Open carry only stirs opposition. I have never heard of a instance where an open carry dude prevented a violent crime. Open carry is a slap in the face of law abiding citizens. How can a CCW be sure the open carry guy is not robbing the store? It's like crying FIRE in a crowded movie theater... It is not against the law, but to do it is crazy. Bottom line, yes it is legal to jump off a bridge and commit suicide, but it is stupid. It is legal (in some places) to open carry, but it is always stupid.

BTW. One December I went into Wal Mart and bought my grandson a single shot Cricket .22 rifle. The store made a employee escort me to the door. I asked him why he had to do that? He said, "So you can't load the gun and shoot somebody." I said, "Thats crazy! If I wanted to shoot some body, I would use this..." and pulled my HK .40 USP(C) out of my pocket and showed it to him. He did not finish his escort.

            this is somewhat true,,

            and pants,,

            what you say??

some folks I work with call 5.11 tactical type pants 'shoot me first pants'

these are young guys, ex mil,
thinking it if from some online game, but not sure (being an almost old guy myself), but apparently it is a mantra for some,,
go into a 'situation' and see a guy wearing 'tactical pants' and take them out first,

            gave me a chuckle,

Right. Notice that cops not only open carry, but also wear uniforms so you can easily identify them.

And you can't hardly walk down the street without stepping on dead cops.

It's called the blue line for a reason.

                Good grief.

What if everybody or most open carried? Will never happen but that would be the ideal situation.

                      Allen-y

Accidents galore, or worse, when drugs and alcohol get mixed in. Criminalize carrying-while-intoxicated? Most people don't know how to handle firearms safely. Maybe they learn, maybe not. As Shootin' Sam Boggs can tell us, bans against carrying in town were common.

only if that open carry guy is street smart,

as in is aware of his surroundings,

sadly, I think some are not ( but that applies to concealed guys as well, as well as those that don't carry)

There's a lot of opinion here -- but no hard data.

I like that the government recognizes that we have the right but personally I would feel uncomfortable doing it. I would rather carry concealed and posses the element of surprise should need be. I would also be uncomfortable around some people carrying that I didn't know but that goes w/o saying.

It can be a good law but individuals vary too much.

It's just a matter of time too before the democrats stage an "event" to help get the law revoked. You know it is scaring them to death.

Hard facts, hard data will always be portrayed negatively by the news regardless of what benefits may occur.

What's wrong with letting people make their own choices?
