When one country tries to annihilate everyone else and take over the world you can't blame the victims for holding a grudge. I think it is a matter of "we'll never forget" more so than racism.

The racism is distinct from "never forget." One thing I learned in Korea was that a respectable Korean family might think an individual "round eyed devil" was quite ok but and might even become quite friendly with a person outside their race but they weren't going to be happy with a non Asian, coming around to court their daughter. Hookers were of course a different story entirely. I had more than one Korean tell me that as a group they just flat didn't find hairy people with big noses attractive. Oh, they truly did despise the Japanese and with good reason. When I was there in the late 1960s the memory of Japanese occupation was still recent and very raw.

There's a lot of stuff there sort of under the radar, the Chinese and Vietnamese really don't get along either.

Apparently they look down at everyone. I've heard that they will not allow people from other countries to become Japanese citizens because they want to keep their culture and heritage "pure" but they don't mind their people, overflowing at the seams, to populate the rest of the world.

As far as look-a-likes goes, Hawaii had Japanese immigrants living there prior to WW2. Some were known Japs, others blended in with the native Hawaiian's who also had that "chinky" look (there's that word again) so spying and sending info back to Japan was fairly easy. After the attack some natives went to the base to help but were shot at being thought to be Japs.
