I know this will probably not go over well, but I was talking with my brother the other day about this rain forest burning, and we were wondering why everybody gets upset with clearing the rain forest, but we pay farmers here to tear down fence rows and clear trees. Maybe we should look in our own backyard to start solving the problem of losing trees. -

Poor farmers are burning the woods.

Not "poor" farmers. Large agribusiness and businesses wanting the land for investment, building, etc. Indigenous and "poor" farmers are doing no more than they have always done. JMHO. The Conservation Reserve Program ( CRP) is a cost-share and rental payment program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Under the program, the government pays farmers to take certain agriculturally used croplands out of production and convert them to vegetative cover,..Comment
