Has Red ever ridiculed the late senator, John McCain? On countless occasions. The mere insinuation that a combat veteran is somehow beyond politucal discourse was something missed on Red when it suited his argument. He insults Mr. Cooper's service by exploiting him in this way.

The gist of the film is that Americans are fighting for ideas bigger than the country itself. Specifically, for people to be freed from tyrannical governments that suppress their liberty, and to make it harder for such governments in the future to wage ruinous wars to imprison and enslave people. The gist of a Trump foreign policy speech, be it his inaugural address, or one at the UN, or about NATO, or Syria, is that the US is no longer interested in the affairs of the world and is going to look out for #1. I don't believe I'm stating his position pejoratively to put it that way. This is Trump's position, and it runs in complete opposition to Roosevelt at Yalta, where with his last ounces of strength he endeavored to get the United Nations as a post-war enterprise on its feet. Not telling anyone which policy to like, just pointing out to Red that a great many US servicemen, including a Marauder man who is my grandfather, died for a very different cause than the one currently articulated by the president.

Yes that's exactly what I wrote in my reply to Ray.

You do realize that was 65 years ago when those countries really did need our help and assistance and financial help then because of their counties war torn economies. After 65 yrs, they no longer need that assistance on the scale provided and it's time we start to direct more attention to our countries needs. Trump has started to force countries we have been supporting all these years to fork up more money meaning we will pay less toward these own countries welfare. In so far as trade, he is beginning to tax imports at the same rate as our exports are taxed by other countries. I can't see anything negative about that.

Yes Ray times change. But last time I checked, there were still countries, and dictators, and armies, and just the one globe for all of us. It's not clear to me how Trump's new world order is overall an improvement over the one that he seeks to eliminate. Agreed that one was imperfect, but then again I could have imagined worse outcomes for the last 70+ years. So open to explanations of how Trump is taking us to a better place.

Please explain what you mean by Trump's new world order....Unless you mean America first and closed borders..I can't imagine any American being against those things...

"America First" is a big one in that henceforth we eschew multilateral diplomacy under American leadership. So no use for the UN, no interest in NATO, certainly no use for global diplomacy on the environment. Everything to be done through bilateral deals in the Trump doctrine. Some situations just take leadership, from one of the big powers, so if the US declares it won't lead, who do you like to pick up the mantle?

No one said Trump doesn't want the UN or NATO, just that he wants the other countries to pay their fair Share for maintaining them and not just the US paying for most of their upkeep. What's the wrong with that?

So "America first" to you is just about rebalancing membership dues?

                            togor has USA guilt
he believes FDR was a great man, with a great plan,

that plan worked, at first, but like most plans, did not do so well as it aged,

however , instead of placing the blame on the establishment that caused the failures, and again, having USA Guilt, (kinda like white guilt,, ) he blames all on Trump,

                            everything,

surely the UN is a great organization (that's sarcasm) and has the new world order planned out

Trump, has another agenda,, that togor disapproves of,

yet he (togor) claims he is a conservative,,,,,,,

One of the symptoms of narcissism is to imagine what your opponent is thinking, and then to accuse him of what you imagine.

You do realize he was asking a question for clarification. Pretty much the exact opposite of assuming, as you've done here.
