Let me shove you down that slippery slope. If the whole show is an irretrievable mess until Jesus comes, then man has no reason to favor Trump over Obama, the Jews over the Muslims, or really take any big position over any other because the assumption is that Jesus is on Final Approach and he's the only one who knows what he'll do when he gets here. One can't even know for sure that a lifetime of beliefs is in line with the new order. One hopes they are, but can't prove it. Mining executives have used that philosophy to avoid cleanup of environmental damage, that Jesus will get here soon. It's a cop-out philosophy in the extreme because by definition Jesus inherits a mess when he gets here, instead of an imperfect world in which people are making some headway at solving the problems, instead of tearing each other's throats out. Except that the Persian Gulf is still a vital transit point for the world's oil supply, and if the Iranians close it there will be repercussions for the global economy that will be impossible for Trump to ignore.

In any case, letting ourselves off the hook for the consequences of our past interventions there with the declaration that it's Jesus's problem to solve when he gets here is certainly bad theology and probably bad geopolitics too.
