Time to check your food supply and general preparedness ...

I'm not much of a worrywart but this Coronavirus crap is
getting out of control and there's no vaccine in sight.
The Chinese authorities are acting like Orwell's 1984 and
are really beating up their citizens. Dead bodies are piling
up - a lot more I suspect than they're telling.
Trump was really pissed that they brought sufferers back
here on an aircraft along with regular passengers, and I
don't blame him. Stupid thing to do.
Supermarkets in China are empty of food supplies and I
ain't taking any chances. Like they say "better to have it
and not need it than to need it and not have it".

Think what you like about the link, personally, I don't care.
I didn't notice the dead bodies but I did notice the brutality.

Sound advice, hopefully not a repeat of the virus from 100 years ago.

Try not to be an elderly or middle-aged male either as early evidence suggests it hits that population harder.

My community closed off the rail line at both ends of the county; no one came in w/o being quarantined.

Fast. Usually the authorities fiddle while Rome burns

I'm ready. I have my propane generator and plenty of canned goods. I can spend a long time out here in the woods and never see another person.

Just noticed that this thread hits a scary part with few posts and many lookers. Back in 2009 there was a show about a pandemic that racked the world. This show was about how "civilization" can quickly degrade and the worst become embolden. Back in 1981 I got a paperback that had been written in 1959 by a man named Pat Frank and he wrote "Alas Babylon!" I couldn't put the book down and it gave me pause for thought as to "What if?" The realistic question for many is "What if?"

Sci Fi that touches on it, in some ways

The Last Ship (not the horrible TV show, but the book, nuclear war caused issues, but a good read)

The White Plague, Frank Herbert, excellent read

                TV shows,

                28 days later, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289043/
Survivors (UK television show ) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1258189/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3

and of course, for a bit more , I Am Legend\The Omega Man

all are a bit over the top, re the current situation, but are good entertainment while holed up in the house or bunker waiting for the kung flu to pass

The virus will eventually fade away. But while here it will devastate the population of 3rd world countries. Countries that are over populated will see a 'thinning of the herd'.

Coronavirus strikes the gut and the lungs. 85% of the cases are mild. 12% are not mild. 3% are acute, with about half of these severe cases dying. As you know, viral pneumonia sends plenty of first-worlders onwards to the next life.

So not a 3rd world thing. The idea is to delay it from breaking out here in a big way, so as to buy time to prepare. But some of the carriers have little to no symptoms, so they move around and about spreading it. In a society as mobile as ours, it's only a matter of time.

Majority of us have insurance policies of some type, pay into them regular and hope never to use the policy. Too many "preppers" want something to happen to show the world they are ready, not realizing this virus is not a game...it is a chance of death. I want nothing to happen and pray that I get my wish of all staying well and content. As an example I am watching Wolf pace back and forth because my wife has Wolf's end of the couch blocked with quilting material she just got in. Wolf doesn't know what has happened to her area and what to do. This is what is going to happen to some people if the worst of this virus materializes in the worst way. Unfortunately in American Society today it won't take much of a panic to induce the greed/fear in our society...I want what you have, I want your safety!
How will your family handle this type of situation?

Vern, out of curiosity what type of generator are you using? I have the large Champion dual 9375 with an extra couple of carbs just in case.
