Sam I write postings on a blog and here is what I wrote in answer to the very same statement there .... read it if you have a mindOne thing I noted early on about Barry and that he disliked people in general, including his own family. Of course the other ASPD won't agree with this but I can only pronounce what I have observed over the 8 years. Having to use an alias is quite disconcerting to say the least....why? Leadership was not one of Barry's strength's as a President. Barry will join "Jimmy Who?" and other less notable malefactors of the White House in the Republic's history. From 1988 to 2016 America did not have many choices to pick from and apparently the best of the worst. Trump has many faults, that is apparent but lack of leadership is not one of them.
Sam
What is a Leader… ?
Once upon a time I was a crew member of a US Aircraft Carrier and I can’t deny I hated every moment of it. There is one memory of it though that now stands out … the Skipper.
Perhaps he wasn’t the best Skipper in the Navy as my ship ended up with one the highest AWOL rates of any vessel in the history of the US Navy… But he did succeed at one thing, at least for a while, as all Captains of naval vessels generally succeed at ….. leadership. Plain and very simple word is “Leadership” . I believe a simple definition is that leadership is the art of motivating a body of people to act toward achieving a common goal.
My Captain of 5,000 men took us …. all 5,000 of us… and united us into cohesion to complete the task. And all of us out there on that sea were a perfect example of America …. we were a microcosm of America , ….. and we were
“Rednecks and Spics, Spooks, Atheists , Jews and Evangelicals, Muslims. We were cultured and educated and high school drop out losers . We were small town farm boys and inner city toughs . We were alcohol abusers and teetotalers and druggies. Some of us were foreigners … we were America.
That’s what and who we were all those years ago. And that Captain united us all to perform the mission at hand. He united us for the benefit of the vessel , ourselves and ultimately our country. Our back grounds and political points of view having not a thing to do with it. He united us as a leader is supposed to do., for the benefit of us all .
“For the benefit of us all.”
Recently the fear of a pandemic disease caused some of us to experience great fear while others followed the leader in his belief it was an opposing political parties hoax . My Captain of that aircraft carrier would have recognized that fear immediately . And he would have comforted those in fear and used the strength of those who weren’t afraid to aide him do it. That is what creates a united “crew “.
I make no apologies for my belief that the present “leadership” is weak as he could never equal the Skipper of a naval vessel,
and unfortunately for us all…. he wouldn’t even try … he’s far too busy ridiculing those that areComment

By your own admission of 'AWOL" is a lack of leadership. Vern might want to chime in on this as he has real combat field experience being a leader of men and I will differ to his opinion as "gospel" on this. My case load was 30 humans, mainly ASPD criminal element of both sexes. I could not ask them to do anything I was not already doing, now could one?

As far as what we have to choose from for the good of this country, things are not going to get any better. Rep. hate Dem. and Dem hate rep. It's a no win situation. No matter who is elected or buy's the chair again, they are doing it for themselves, they like to control people. If you don't go along with me you're FIRED. Their are alot of things that need to be changed to go with the changing times. Quit spending billions of dollars to elect a pres., Do away with the editorial vote, it's outdated and expensive. Have one vote by the people. Then maybe we will have better choices Instead of only two. Vote lesser of two evils. This my opinion and I am ready to be bashed from both sides and I don't really care. THIS COUNTRY NEEDS BETTER THAN WE HAVE BEEN GETTING FOR THE LAST 20-30 YRS. Start bashing folks!!!!!!!!!!A couple of points:
.
2. Leadership style and ability are two different things. A guy can insist on being treated like the "big cheese" and be seen as a leader, but ultimately what matters to history is the quality of decisions coming out of headquarters, judged against circumstances, not how big a peacock sat in the head chair.

Maybe the lesson of this pandemic is that the "lesser of two evils" is the one who can handle the basic nuts & bolts of government better, that this aptitude does not necessarily track party affiliation. As far as what we have to choose from for the good of this country, things are not going to get any better. Only 15 percent of Obama's stimulus actually went to providing jobs and for work projects. It was mostly a free giveaway to ideological and political allies.Four simple questions
When President Bush mailed us all a $600 stimulus check to help what he described as a sound economy.... how many here objected ?.
Don't be afraid to not raise your hand... I spent my $600 without guilt.
Couple years later when he mailed us all another check for $250...did you object ?
I spent mine on hobby stuff .
When President Obama wanted to spend money on roads and bridges to stimulate the economy by putting construction workers back to work how many here thought it a bad idea and we couldn't afford it ?
Hmmm, lots of ya .
Now .... how many of you are objecting to the latest stimulus which will effectively pay higher unemployment benefits than the lost job ?
Guess things be different now its an election year..... and thank God we don't have Socialists in power.
I remember Bush's money. It was called "Making Jobs Work" or some other catchy phrase. I remember because I had two young children at the time, was paying out the nose for child care and the money actually saved me from owing federal taxes that year because the deduction for child care expenses was not very good.
The unemployment benefit boondoggle should have been fixed. It encourages businesses to lay off workers for 4 months extending the economic slump. I suspect that was a poison pill inserted by some Democratic staffer and Repubs were too much in a hurry to pass the bill. I doubt anyone who voted on it actually read it.
Republicans and Democrats are Socialists, the only difference is that Republicans are slow walking us over a cliff, Democrats are running at a full sprint over the cliff. The time will come soon when we actually have a Socialist President, and then we will all notice the difference between soft and hard socialism in some very big ways.Comment

JFK and LBJ were brazen sexual predators, and LBJ was a racist. Not false racism charges like the media and Democrats are leveling at Trump, but he was an actual racist. They both also used the power of the Federal Government to go after and punish their enemies. Each of them made Nixon look like a Piker.Comment

You have to have good people under you who will not try to undermine you. Reagan and Clinton both cleaned house after their election and inserted loyal people who could help them do the job effectively. Trump, being new to politics, trusted his advisors who led him in the wrong direction regarding some key appointments and he also left a lot of Obama holdovers in the various agencies who literally despised him and worked against him. handling the basic nuts and bolts is impossible when you have someone unscrewing them as you are trying to tighten them. Trump is learning his lesson and is now inserting smart and loyal people to help him do the job.Last edited by TSimonetti; 04-09-2020, 05:43.Comment

I guess I'd need to see an example of someone in the administration who is smart, loyal to the boss, and competent. And also a long-time staffer. A name, if one is available, would be great. You have to have good people under you who will not try to undermine you. A guy whose TV tag line was "you're fired" is not the guy who attracts and develops talent. You correctly point out that loyalty to Trump is important, but any number of TV sitcoms or 1950's movie plots have shown us how doing the job right and making the boss look good are two different things.
To me the question is: can Trump abide fighting generals in this Covid war? We know from history there are peacetime generals, who get along with the politicians, and fighting generals who are a PITA but get the job one. I see no signs that Trump has learned any lesson at all in this area. If anything the managment style leans more heavily on sycophants as the bad news keeps coming.Comment

Simple. Look who the media constantly attacks and tries to smear and those are the loyal and competent advisers. Stephen Miller, Larry Kudlow, and Mike Pence come to mind right away. They have all done stellar jobsI guess I'd need to see an example of someone in the administration who is smart, loyal to the boss, and competent. And also a long-time staffer. A name, if one is available, would be great.

You can do better than attacking his TV personna and then trying to apply it to his Presidency. That's a pretty lazy analysis and is off the mark.
Not sure what you mean by Trump abiding by people. The main challenge he will face will be in May-June, when the virus flatlines and all but disappears but his enemies are still counting each death and warning about a re-occurrance in the fall if we all go back to work too soon. This will soon turn into a political battle, not a medical one. The experts like Birx and Fauci are not leaders, they are advisors in medicine and epidemiology. It will take a leader to decide to get America back to work, despite the fearmongering and demagoguery from Democrats which is bound to come in this election season.Last edited by TSimonetti; 04-09-2020, 06:59.Comment

Pence? What has he done except stay out of the line of fire? You didn't mention Jared in your list of stars, but Pence has done even less.
Miller? A dark prince for sure. But the base loves him.
Kudlow?
On Covid, March 6:On the aftermath of the crash, Feb '09:"Regarding the containment issue, I will still argue to you that this is contained.....We don't actually know what the magnitude of the virus is going to be. Although, frankly, so far it looks relatively contained."That one really sticks out given the recent mega-bills signed by Trump.“What’s even more incredible is Team Obama’s stubborn refusal to have any faith in the free market. In some of the hardest hit areas of the country, markets are already solving the housing problem.
If the government really wants to help, instead of bailing out irresponsible mortgage holders, it should support new and younger families who want to buy starter homes and begin to climb the ladder of prosperity.
All this is free-market economics 101. And I say, let free-markets work.”
This one people will really enjoy, from August of 2015:Kudlow is the guy who consistently scores 10% on True/False tests.“And let’s not forget: The stock market, which is a leading indicator of the future economy, is in a wee bit of a correction. Given the recent rise of presidential candidate Donald Trump, we should all be thankful that stocks haven’t plunged. Trump’s agenda of trade protectionism, dollar devaluation, and immigrant deportation is completely anti-growth. It’s like Fortress America in an economy that is completely globalized and where the U.S. must compete in the worldwide race for capital and labor. Trump’s policies don’t fit.”Comment
