Now I know why I distrust Dr Fauci ...

He wants to issue "certificates of Immunity" to those who
have had the virus and so are (presumably) immune.
Isn't that nice and Nazi like ? So, you can't travel without
    the appropriate "Papers" ?

That's a great idea. Papers please. And the illegals should have to wear a red I.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Where did he say he wants to issue certificates?

"This is something that's being discussed. I think it might actually have some merit, under certain circumstances."

Some occupations, perhaps at high risk of getting a dose of the virus, might require a certificate of immunity as a criteria as part of the qualification. That is, you pass a test showing anti-bodies for the virus. Probably they give you a drug test too. Those are common now.

I really don't see any new ground being broken here.

The ground being broken is that this certificate is going to be a not so gentle nudge to compel Americans to get an antibody test. Simply put, History's greatest economy was shut down because of 60,000 deaths from this virus. There's a pretty good chance in my estimation that those without the certificate can be ostracized and punished in many different ways, in fact, in as many ways as thousands of petty bureaucrats and technocrats and private sector do-gooders can think of, especially if we are to expect a re-occurrance of this virus as soon as this fall. Flu shots used to be voluntary. How much longer before people get punished in some way for not getting one? These certificates ramp up the big brother factor in this country from level 4 to around level 8.

When you see an idea, it's often prudent to think of the worst side effects or results of that idea. This is one of those ideas.

Fauci and Birx are Medical Technocrats who are incapable of analyzing any national policy decisions outside of the extreme disease abatement process they have been wedded to by a failed prediction model. They need to step aside.

                ...History's Greatest Economy...

A curious phrasing, taken directly from the daily briefings.

In healthcare, Flu shots are required for employment.

Waiting for someone to explain to me their vision of how the economy successfully re-opens. Maybe Lyman will share his ideas on this subject.

The flu epidemic of 1918 was brought under control primarily by social distancing, not political infighting. Now it seems that politics and blame is the largest distracter in efforts to find an answer to our current epidemic.

Arguably also true of those who argue that immunity certification amounts to a "papers please" society. If someone wants to go get infected and then recover/die in isolation without passing the germ on, they're free to do so. Then they will either have their paper, or not need it.

Never waste a crisis. I like that. That's how things get done. I wasn't being sarcastic about "papers please". The old movies I watched had the border guards in trench coats asking for ze papers. The heroes always found a way to get across the border. The papers please part is what I think is needed to vote and control migration. But now due to cov 19 more of our life is going to be virtual. Truth is stranger than fiction. Dang, even with five G&T's I think my post is more erudite than the previous three.

Well, simply put, but true. That's not to say there haven't been groundbreaking or earth shattering economies before in our world history, but in terms of buying power of the average American and the goods and services available to even the poorest among us is truly one of a kind and greatest in world history.

I know Flu shots are mandatory in healthcare, but that is not relevant to my point..

And of course, they are free to accept any punishments dreamed up by the bureaucracy if they fail to comply. Needs of society and all that.... And how will this isolation be enforced? Virus Gulags?
