Come on down to Florida where pollen and allergies are a year round event . If you don't witness coughing and sneezing down here it's because you ain't leaving the house.... then the season ends and half the population travels back home to places like where you live

The coughers should wear the mask, if only for their allergies, a common cold, etc; just don't force me by governmental edict to do the same thing until & unless I exhibit the same behavior! And if you're wearing your own mask (& goggles, too, preferably!), why worry about others?

Again....people are contagious before they realize they are sick. Not even coughing, just exhaling.

So I asked my Greek associate what the secret was behind citizen compliance. He can be contrarian but shrewd, and says that the debt crisis and austerity knocked out a lot of health care services so people are terrified that if they get sick they'll have nowhere to go. Greek Islands are closed to visitors, just supplies over water. But apparently not worse yet than the debt crisis.

Maybe you need to go to Greece if you are so fond of their ways. I really get tired of hearing how awful the US is, but the complainers NEVER go to all the other wonderful places in the world, just stay here and complain that we are not as great as "everywhere else". Your doctor can prescribe a drug that will restore your sense of smell. You may also need to see an audiologist and get fitted for hearing aids.

The point being made is that some countries, as a consequence of recent bad times, are showing more discipline in the fight against the virus. This doesn't make them paradises, but it may reinforce the point that easy lives make soft people. Which people? Depends on who you ask. I will say that in personal experience I find Greeks to be pretty tough when need requires.

Meek acceptance of strong-arm tactics by your gov't isn't a manifestation of "discipline," but of servile spinelessness. And while there are some who "don't like anyone telling them what they can or cannot do," they are obviously in the minority, as the wholesale, unquestioning, acceptance of mask-mania by most of the public demonstrates CLEARLY. The national symbol of this country, that is, the bulk of the population, should be this:
