I have no sympathy for men like O'Reilly, Rather or Lauer, etc. I question the sincerity of their apologies. About like a convicted criminal seeking to gain a less severe sentence or perhaps set things up for a better result come time for a parole hearing.

One does not apologize in the hope of forgiveness, etc. One apologizes because you realize you were wrong. It is that simple. It is that clear. Whether or not the person(s) you wronged is their decision. You have no control over it. Nor should you. To apologize requires that you recognize your wrong doing and that you admit it, etc. Some men are not capable of bringing themselves to admit wrong doing no matter how extreme. The lamest of such men are the ones who plead that they only did what everyone else was doing. About like those who offer the excuse that they were only doing their job ala Eichmann.

So, to reiterate, apologizing is not a sign of weakness. It requires that a man be sufficiently capable of mastering his own self that he can tell the truth about what he has or has not done and then seek to make right whatever wrong he has done. Sincerely. bruce.
