subsidies for what, milk? or Wheat?

not everyone in rural areas in this part of the country owns the farm or dairy,,, and lots have jobs that are not subsidized in any way,

    BTW,

would be curious to see the math on that subsidy thing,

what is the percentage of tax dollars subsidizing a farmer or such as you mentions, compared to subsidizing welfare/foodstamps etc, per capita and by region (rural vs city)
include housing etc in those numbers and let us know when you are done,
See why I ignore them? What a nasty personality!!

Lyman of course there's a point: bashing cities because they have city problems is stupid.

And also a trope going back a long ways. Nazi propaganda filmmakers loved shots of sturdy Bavarian farmer peasants oozing Nordic characteristics to contrast against those hooked-nose, narrow-eye-set slum-dwellers in Berlin, or later Lodz, Poznan, etc.

A kid grows up in a rural region, tiny school, hardly any kids around. Really out in the middle of farm or ranch country (notice I didn't say "nowhere").

Turns out this kid is wicked smart, reading high school level by age 9 smart, goes on from there.

What his parents going to want for him? Graduate early and work at the grain elevator or cattle yards? They might want him to go to college, grad school, right? Dig into whatever it is that interests him. Thus: he's going to move, go to one of those "sh*thole" cities that his parents are told to hate so much by Limbaugh, Hannity, Trump, etc. Where yes, he'll learn to like Middle Eastern or Peruvian food or whatever. God help him, right?

And his federal taxes from his high income job will be sent back home, in the form of various ag and other subsidies by which the blue regions subsidize the red.
"Just go to Kroger's and buy your food, what do I care about farmers?" Biden's "followers".

My point was always, and I said as much to 5MadFarmers, "for all of the Nazi nonsense being thrown around, there are still real Nazis out there, and if they start making a serious move, we are all going to have to make a choice".

Blood and Soil as a German philosophy predates the Nazis, but got a boost under them. It holds that the rural agrarian population is the racial/cultural reservoir for the nation. There are echoes of it in sarcastic quotes like this, whether the poster realizes it or not:
but those cities are now shining examples of the Utopian dream,

diversity, equality, inclusiveness etc etc etc,
Cue CH now to say that blood and soil are the real deal.....

It beats any KKK reference that Togey will make. I hate hearing about his Walter Mitty childhood.

city problems happen in cities, and a lot of them are self inflicted,

must be your Nordic/Germanic population ancestry,

down here in lovely VA, the Scots/Irish/English ancestry looks at things a bit different,
