Once browsing in a University library I found a book of patents printed in the very early 1800s. Among the first was Watt's steam engine. But it was slow in coming to the new world.

        The Cali expats is amusing.

The people that left for political reasons are not changing anything.

The dog just didn't hunt this year.
"The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. They who fired it were the greatest practical abolitionists this nation has produced." ~BG D. Ullman

Wow you are seriously hard boiled aren't you. Watt's engine came to Sheffield and the rest is history.

no, just don't follow what Watt has to do with this?

unless you think he started the movement?

Watt is to blame like Columbus is to blame, you know. Between the two of them, they personify evil.

All true environmentalists must shun both -- and stop using electricity, motorized transportation and other EVIL inventions.

Where he goes, I don't know -- but to be true to his value system, he'll have to go by bicycle.

                    actually Vern,

                    it is the dinosaurs fault,

they ate all that roughage and the farts caused the 2nd climate change,

and those fishy things that grew up and out of the water too, they polluted the waters so bad they had to evolve up to land dwelling to escape it,

W.C. Fields was the prophet there -- he refused to drink water, "Because you know what fish do in the water."
