Foodbanks help a lot of folks, but they rely on Corporate help as well as volunteers from the community and churches,

the big one here in town has a full size commercial kitchen, and volunteer (as well as some paid staff) chefs/cooks etc
they run the local meals on wheels program out of it,

the back side of the building is a warehouse for the donated goods that are not used in the kitchen

we (voluntold store management) would get together a few times a year to make boxes of foodstuffs that we (the company) would donate ,and also would have for sale in our stores (you pay $12 so for a box, and the box of food was donated to the foodbank for distribution to those in need)

we had a lot of local churches that wanted to pick up the daily bread stales, and any meat/deli items we could donate,
one guy actually told me the church used our bread stales not just for soup kitchen/ donated stuff, but also for the Spaghetti Dinners they had ever Wed night

thought that was wrong, but the parishioners did not seem to mind

another issue in this area is the distance between resources,

takes a lot of fuel to gather this stuff up (kroger actually donated a new refrigerated truck one year to the local RVA foodbank) and for the end user, the distance between the food banks can be daunting,

Did you try donating food or cash?

And now it turns out your local food bank has all the food and volunteers they need!

But if there IS a food bank that's short of food, and you know about it -- Go there and donate, and quit whining.

The country is bigger than just where I live.
I read the news, that's how I know about what's going on.

                  You're a bad loser boy.

We're not talking about how big the country is, we're talking about your snarky remark that somehow I am responsible for everyone, and your disclaimer that since everyone where YOU live is taken care of, you have no responsibility.

You are boo-hooing about poor people -- well, do your share! Take care of them.
