I've never once stepped foot into the VA as it has always been there for Vets with a service connected "ailment"
Any of us who use their services for non service connected treatment are stealing from those who have a genuine right to use those services ...

No single veteran wrote, legislated, or made the rules. I’m a veteran and have a service related disability. I follow the rules and regulations to the letter so you think I’m stealing from you?
Have you ever filed a tax return that included deductions? Have you ever received a tax refund? If you have then you are stealing from me.Comment

my father hated the system, and despite serving 27 years, refused to set foot in a VA,I've never once stepped foot into the VA as it has always been there for Vets with a service connected "ailment"

he thought tricare for life was better
a few friends tried to get him to go anyway but he would not,
then again, he hung out at a beer joint in the 60's and 70's that was a few blocks from the local VA hospital, and the patients would often break free and make it to the beer joint before the orderly's caught them,
may have swayed his opinion some,
meanwhile, I have several friends that use the services often,Comment

Right after I got out of the navy I did an obligatory visit to the VA. Shocking. Burnt out long haired addicts. Around 25 yrs old. Luckily I got a job that included BC/BS, the good stuff. I have visited with a relative since. Not as shocking, but there are some subtle warnings posted about behavior. If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.Comment

For the record, there are more places giving the inoculations every day. Walgreens, CVS and local clinics here started off going to nursing homes first and then on to the 1B category (people.over 75).
BTW everybody over 75 is a 1B. And no you don’t have to pay for it, and no you don’t have to be a Veteran.
Edit: FWIW
I have had extremely bad experiences at this VA. The COVID vaccination was by far the most professional and best Ive experienced. They had a canopy set up outside with two nursing stations. the appointments were every 10 minutes, 6 appointments per hour, per station, for 8 hours. It was a clockwork set up, I pulled in to the station and in less than 8 minutes I had the paperwork and the shot and never left my car. Afrerwards, I was pulled over to another parking lot for a 15 minute observation period and that was it. Effortless, and I had zero reactions to the shotLast edited by RED; 01-04-2021, 01:56.Comment

Well, that is your choice and opinion; however, according to the VA, they permit veterans without service-connected disabilities to receive care. Many times this requires a co-payment, that is similar to other types of insurance. I use the VA system even though I have Tricare for Life. I have received excellent care from the VA.I've never once stepped foot into the VA as it has always been there for Vets with a service connected "ailment"

Many military veterans aren’t aware they are eligible for VA health care benefits. The common misconception is that veterans can only use VA medical care facilities if they have a service-connected disability rating. Veterans with a service-connected disability rating can use VA medical centers, but health care benefits aren’t only limited to those individuals.Comment

Was it Trump's fault that I stood outside in the cold for 4 hours waiting to get a COVID vaccination ( no, probably mine ). No, it was the idiotic local health dept officials who advertised 500 shots on a "first come-first served" basis from 9AM to 2PM. About 1500 people showed up. I was #223 and I got there at 6:40. Most of the ones in line were young health care workers and teachers.Comment

seems odd,
you would think at least some of the legislators were/are VetsComment

It will be "interesting" to see how the SD "manage" government under the Obama re-set. I am not expecting much so I will not be disappointed at all. Lockdowns will increase, more government control and regulations of our lives. Our country is now split with Democracy going full tilt Bozo under Nancy. Inflation will now tick upwards as throwing printed money to the problem will be the SD answer.
Will armed resistance to the SD form of government now take shape in some areas of America? Will barter and an underground economy increase due to the SD government? Will the Balkanization of America pick up speed?

Trump's trips were not 'vacations'! The entire O'Bama family, including mama, went on long vacations via free government expense, at least free for them, not the tax payer!Comment
