JB by "good" I mean justifiable.
The LEO in the Toledo case gets the benefit of the doubt in that situation because there had already been firearms activity.
Up in Brooklyn Center the resistance such as it was apparently warranted a taser, not a bullet, if someone wants to go by the judgement of the LEOs on the scene.
That's my point, that civilians have to factor a LEO effup possibility in their dealings with them. That must be as frustrating as hell, that not only do you have to give them all the power, you have factor in the possibility that they'll just screw up and won't listen to you.
One of the things Americans pride themselves on is a love of individual liberty. It's not in our nature to submit meekly to flawed government authority.Last edited by togor; 04-16-2021, 06:33.Comment

since you have given up of figuring out or have not figured out what I was referring to, saying that simply cause you have repeated yet again the error in the quoted post above,
keep in mind what I am about to type is not in the Democratic Playbook, which I know you know chapter and verse,,
the Civilians have to factor,,,,,
guess what
the LEO/Police, county, city, village, town, state, whatever location they are in, are Civilians,
LEO is a job, just like brick layer, just like engineer, just like backhoe operator,
different training, standards, hours etc etc yes,, but a Civilian job nonetheless,
one of the biggests issues with some of these cases is that folks want to assume the Police is not Civilian,
it brings more of the us vs them into the picture, which is what a lot of the leftward leaning folks want,
remember also, due to the GWOT for the past 20 yrs, Police agencies have hired Vets, and lots want to be Operators in a Police Uniform, but they are also still just Civilians, just like you and I
fact is also that due to the current narrative, damn near any police shooting is going get big publicity,
I say damn near because if the wrong demographics are involved, it goes from page one to page 30 section 10 of the paper in a day or so,
also left out is why they were under police scrutiny in the first place,Comment

The term civilians comes up a lot. Police refer to the general public as civilians. That part is correct in the general sense as we are supposed to be non combatants.
The police on the other hand should/would/could be called civilians. However they are in the employ of a government entity. They are vetted and screened more than a security guard would be. They receive a much higher regimen of training. They are armed to thwart those who would do harm and they have the power of arrest. They are duty bound 24/7. They are officers of the court.
It's not exactly a run of the mill civilian job.Last edited by JB White; 04-16-2021, 08:52.2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

but they are employed by a Civilian Authority, and are no different than you or I
if we (as a people or citizen) decide otherwise, then we would be under a military type rule,Comment
