You mean after the UN recognized Israel as a nation - thus giving independence ?
As I remember, the Jews wiped the floor with the Arab nations in the 1948 war.

Jesus H. Christ, your abysmal lack of knowledge is showing. The Brits created the Balfour Agreement that carved out of Arab (Palestine) an intended Jewish state as an attempt at maintaining some influence in the lands captured from the Ottoman Empire. The agreement was also an attempt at garnering support for the war against Germany. The Palestinians were also promised, with the defeat of the Nazis, a large piece of captured land for a larger Palestine, which never occurred. The land that made Israel was Arab land that was appropriated in the formation of Israel.
No charge for my history lesson which does illustrate that Britain could be partially blamed for the mess in the Middle East.

There is scarcely a problem area in the world today that doesn't have the fingerprints of the Foreign Office on it somewhere.

Everyone gets excited when there is a chance of getting free land. Or something. When immigrants were something new.

-Nobody has a persuasive case that it could have been done with no mess whatsoever.-
Sad,that the dem's get the credit for this. 'course it was the Republicans that got us into it. I liked the whole 'death on the hiway', although I don't like a slaughter or a gutless balls kick. But, dang it went on and on. Unless you kill every single person alive in the mid east(I have a plan) there will be some altercation on occasion.

Speaking of Afghanistan, the place is having it's worst drought in 30 years. Guess whose problem it isn't?

Say what you will about Sleepy Joe, but the Iranians and Pakis, instead of trying to eff us over like stupid short-sighted children, are now realizing that they should have been more careful about what they wished for.
