    JMHO
Of course Putin wanted Trump to win in 2016!! Nobody disputes this! Hillery was much more hawkish on Russia than Trump was. And for 4 years Trump put no pressure at all on Putin whatsoever, giving him time to modernize his military. In fact, Trump was quoted as saying he wanted to pull out of NATO and dump the ROK after the election. Both are completely plausible.
This fight happened now because the winds changed on Putin. An American president who has no interest in dumping our European allies!

Can you find a single pro-NATO or pro-ROK quote from Trump? Just one??? Go ahead, take your time. Because I can find bushels of pro-Kim and pro-Putin quotes that came out of his big orange trap.

Note to Ray: RED brought Trump specifically into this. Wasn't me.

      jeez,

      Hillary Hawkish?

she paid an Englishman to lie about Trump and Russia,, correct?
then your side hawked that on the MSM and tried an impeachment,, recall that?

Trump was all about NATO being more than a US expenditure, ditto ROK since they have a pretty swell economy, and a good defense force,,,

can you provide one quote saying Trump wanted to dump US allies?

        For RED:

"I said here's the problem with NATO: it's obsolete. Big statement to make when you don't know that much about it, but I learn quickly."

        Donald J. Trump. April 2, 2016.

        Guess he was wrong, huh?

So I will happily list mistakes every US President has made in Europe since the end of the cold war. They glibly assumed that Russia was just going to autopilot into formation in some world order, just like China. It was a brutal miscalculation and we are still coming to terms with it.

Where I credit Trump is saying "hey something is seriously wrong here." But not once have I ever formed the idea that he believed in the power of friends and allies. And not once have I ever heard his predecessors speak of NATO the way Trump did.

Anyways, what is done is done. As Ray says, someone else is driving the boat. I assume we all pray that he does it right.

        One prediction I'll make:

In 2025, one of them, Biden or Putin, will be gone from power.
