Well, I didn'r actually shed any blood, but I did endure bombs dropping around me.
I was knee highto a grasshopper but I had to retreat to a concrete bunker every night
which is still after all this time a vivid memory. Of course as a kid I found the whole
thing thoroughly enjoyable watching the Heinkels caught in the searchlight beams.
I collected shrapnel which I would did out of the road (mostly shell fragments).
Great fun. See, I'm enjoying it all over again. Some things you never forget.

"Fight On The Beaches" speech always worth a replay. Nobody was sending the Brits Javelins or giving them satellite info. But they did have radar and made good use of it.

Which they gave to the US.
We also had Turin, a queer but a brilliant mathematician
And Mitchel who designed the Spitfire.
The "Fight on the beaches" thing was funny as we had no weapons.
Our Home Guard drilled with broomsticks.

Zelensky wants "peace talks". What's to talk about ? All Zelensky has to offer
is to not seek NATO membership (Which he could never have anyway) What else
does he have to offer, that he won't destroy Moscow ? Maybe he knows where
the Amber Room is, but I doubt it. One thing is for sure, Putin has no intention
of losing and suffering the humiliation that would result plus the possibility it would
bring about his downfall. If Zelensky were to accept a cessation of hostilities
brought about by his giving up his NATO ambitions - I'll have been proved right
in that he embarked on a fritless war and gained absolutely NOTHING except the
destruction of his country to say nothing about the world wide turmoil it's caused.

Who says the Ukraine can't join NATO? When this is over if we don't admit the Ukraine we're damned fools.

One of the reasons NATO was formed was to prevent the Soviets from spreading. That's why Russia has always been against the Ukraine and surrounding countries from joining.

                        Here is an article.

NATO employs an "open door policy" for aspiring European members, but nations have to meet certain political, economic, and military standards.

Besides meeting certain standards they are expected to pay into it as well. Trump made the point that the U.S. was footing nearly the entire tab and got other NATO members to chip in more.

While most of the world sympathizes with the people of the Ukraine their government in the past has been somewhat corrupt. Not the ideal candidate the NATO nations are looking for. Now, things may be looked at differently?

Well given who the Ukrainians learned government from--Russia--of course they would have corruption problems. But, they've also had peaceful transfers of power after elections, and show a willingness to sacrifice for their country. So they were getting their sh*t together and the Kremlin saw this and had to lay them low. The last thing the Kremlin wants is a successful Ukraine causing Russians to demand that Moscow becomes less corrupt.

Then they need to unsay it. We are on the brink of WWIII because the Ukraine was not admitted to NATO.

When this is over, Russia will gladly hand over Ukraine. It will be a destroyed wreck and just the humanitarian recovery will take 20 years. Infrastructure alone will cost trillions and untold thousands of Ukrainians are going to die. No water, no electricity, no gas, no sanitary systems and famine everywhere.

In the mean time the USA will be bankrupt. Spanish will become the required language and a loaf of bread will be $100.

But the good news is, no more ugly tweets.
