Ukraine War Interesting Line of Argument

Peter Zieihan can be bombastic but raises interesting angles.

    Gist of this one is:

    1) Russia has decided plugging invasion gaps in Europe is necessary.

    2) Therefore if successful in Ukraine they'll push on to NATO territory.

    3) NATO has taken stock of Russian performance and stands ready to obliterate them if they try.

    4) Rather than retreat all the way back across a hostile Ukraine, Russia will escalate to nukes.

    Therefore,

    5) To prevent nuclear war, it's necessary to throw weapons into Ukraine now to stop Russia from winning. And that by so doing, the West is saving the world, and Russia itself, from a greater disaster.

If one believes that closing the Polish gap is Russia's ultimate goal, then logically, this guy is right. Putin has to be defeated while the consequences of that defeat are still manageable for Russia.

Relying on a bunch of "IFs" is like crossing a busy intersection with eyes closed.
The worry is if Putin does have cancer, he may wish to go out with a bang instead of a whimper

Remember what Churchill said about Russia.

We'll learn something tomorrow. If Putin declares full mobilization, then DT will be joining the peaceniks on the protest lines. At least until the missiles fly.

Hilz Uranium for Putin fits what DT would describe as idiotic.

After the last cold war ended the right needed an enemy so it turned on the left we've been there ever since.

Reminding the right that "hey guys there are bigger problems out there" is not exactly the dumbest idea ever.

But of course the green frog crowd doesn't see it that way (you would know) and they don't want to see their champion Putin be taken off the board.

This guy has another evaluation of things. And he is not always so pessimistic about the West.

Putin has to be defeated while the consequences of that defeat are still manageable for Russia.

Exactly. Russia needs to recover from this, as a partner or at least neighbor of the West.

              Good post.

open your eyes, putin is no ones champion, however you and the left want to keep him in the headlines as today's whipping boy,, but most have not forgotten that he was a favorite of the left recently

Good Eurasian landmass from the English Channel to the Pacific to an emerging China-Russia-Germany pact Psycho neo-con/neoliberalcon silos inside the Deep State (military-industrial-congressional-intelligence-media-academia-think tank complex) kind of post.

I don't know about the second part, partnership, but agree that yes somehow the air has to be let out of the balloon in a way that Russians can handle.

And the reality is that Russia exports a lot of things that the Indians and Chinese will gladly buy, so it's not like they will be completely cut off from the world. Far from it. But they can run their export economy with 1950's technology, if it comes to it. In other words, don't eff with the West unless you want the West to eff with you right back, and if that's too much to ask, then enjoy life as a Communist Chinese province.
